Following the SUV’s public debut at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year, Ford is launching the updated Edge in Europe. The facelifted Ford Edge claims to be the company’s “most technologically advanced SUV ever”, featuring a wide range of driver assistance systems and an updated lineup that includes the Titanium, ST-Line and Vignale trim levels. Ford’s latest SUV model uses a biturbo 2.0-liter EcoBlue diesel four-cylinder engine with 234hp (238PS) in its range-topping version, paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission and the company’s Intelligent all-wheel drive system. Customers will be also offered two more options in the diesel-only engine department: a base 147hp (150PS) version of the 2.0-liter EcoBlue unit that drives the front wheels via an eight-speed automatic and a 187hp (190PS) version of the same engine with a six-speed manual and all-wheel drive. As I shuffled, exhausted, into the airport bathroom, a whistle-shaped fan was attempting to dry its freshly mopped floors — picking up the scent of the urine-soaked tiles and wafting it directly into my nostrils. It was not shaping up to be a good week and I had another 2,000 miles to go before I arrived in Utah to sample the 2019 Ford Edge ST and Edge Titanium. Ford’s Edge has been a guilty pleasure of mine ever since I used one to follow the PGA tour almost four years ago. That experience ended with me feeling worse about golf but much better about a vehicle I had previously written off as uninteresting. The Edge Titanium I basically lived out of during that period didn’t become more exciting. But every time I had to park it and traverse eighteen holes of nearly consistent boredom under the hot summer sun, I’d look back at its fresh red paint and whisper “take me away from all of this.” And that’s exactly what it did when my time with the … [Read more...] about 2019 Ford Edge ST First Drive – Finding the White Space
2019 Ford Edge Titanium Elite; Cars.com photos by Fred Meier Ford has refreshed the mid-size Edge five-seat SUV for 2019, adding a new top Titanium Elite Package and an edgier performance model, as well as making some not-so-edgy tweaks to the front and rear styling. There also are less visible but substantial changes that include a new transmission, smarter all-wheel drive, more standard safety tech and the discontinuation of one optional engine. There still is an Edge V-6, a more powerful version of the 2018 Sport model's EcoBoost turbocharged 2.7-liter, but it's offered only on the new ST that replaces the Sport trim level with a true performance model (we'll have more about that in a separate story soon). But all other Edges now are powered by a tweaked version of the current turbo 2.0-liter base engine that puts out 5 horsepower … [Read more...] about Ford Tops Up 2019 Edge Titanium, But Is It Elite Enough?
The 2019 Ford Edge uses artificial intelligence to improve performance and traction. The system is complex and works faster than the human brain, according to Ford. The biggest news about the 2019 Ford Edge is, surprisingly, not related to the hardcore ST variant. Even though the Edge ST rightfully deserves a place in the news, the base price of $42,355 is an issue for some buyers. After ticking the option box for the chassis upgrades, bigger brakes, and larger alloys, the price balloons to around $50,000. Data-Driven But what really commands the most attention is Ford’s Intelligent All-Wheel Drive with “AWD Disconnect.” This feature is now optional on all 2019 Ford Edge models, and standard on the ST. The new drivetrain actually utilizes A.I. technology to determine the optimal settings. The system collects information from a dizzying array of sensors located throughout the vehicle. Depending on the incoming data, the system switches between … [Read more...] about 2019 Ford Edge: Now Powered By A.I. Technology
CARS.COM — Ford has refreshed its Edge mid-size SUV for the 2019 model year, and at the 2018 Chicago Auto Show, we learned about a new trim level. It's called the Edge Titanium Elite, and it's a cosmetic package on the exterior. Related: More 2018 Chicago Auto Show Coverage Most of the changes are low down on the SUV's body. First, body-colored paneling replaces gray paneling on the regular Titanium. There's some more silver trim up front, as well. It gives the SUV a bit of a monochrome appearance. Around the side are unique 20-inch wheels, and that body-colored appearance extends along the lower side sills, all the way around to the rear bumper. We don't have pricing yet on the Edge Titanium Elite. We don't even know if this will be the most expensive Edge or if that will continue to be the Edge ST, which carries over from last year; stay tuned. Plenty more of that information should come closer to the Edge Titanium Elite's on-sale date in late summer 2018. Watch the … [Read more...] about 2019 Ford Edge Titanium Elite Video Review
