· March 3, 2021 ·

It's coming for the 2022 model year. Despite the ongoing dialogue for the Cherokee moniker , Jeep’s SUV has a future with a brand new generation of the three-row version hitting the showrooms very soon. The five-seat Grand Cherokee soldiers on for 2021 unchanged but for the 2022 model year, there will be a new model. We spied the five-passenger vehicle just earlier this month and we were surprised to see there will be visual tweaks compared to the Grand Cherokee L. Our friends at Kolesa.ru decided to uncover the camouflage from the spied prototype with a rendering, previewing the design changes. The 12-month journey to settle Aston Martin’s new F1 livery

· March 3, 2021 ·

The green and black livery– with those streaks of pink – is certain to stand out when battle commences in Bahrain later this month. But equally, the unveiling marked the end of a long journey that Aston Martin has made in coming up with the exact colours that will carry the British sportscar manufacturer's return to F1. For while it has been known for several months now that Aston Martin wanted to use British racing green for its 2021 challenger, settling down on the specific green was never going to be the work of the moment. Time and again we have seen teams get their livery colours out of kilter: making them work in real life but being a flop on television or in photographs. That is why, as Aston Martin's creative officer Marek Reichman has explained, the final choice on the exact type of green used was something that needed a lot of thought put in to. "It's been a long journey actually," explained Reichman, who has designed Aston Martin's road cars for the … [Read more...] about The 12-month journey to settle Aston Martin’s new F1 livery

Dodge Dakota Revival Might Not Be Dead After All

· March 3, 2021 ·

The Dakota name has been gone for a decade. Maybe it's time to come back. Maybe the project to revive the Dakota or whatever Ram calls its future midsized truck isn't dead after all . An insider source now tells Automotive News that the work is still happening to give the brand a smaller pickup. The Ram Dakota went away after the 2011 model year. Rumors were already swirling in 2012 about a return for the nameplate. Although, it never happened. Gallery: New 2008 Dodge Dakota Revealed 22 Photos Instead of introducing a new Dakota, FCA (now Stellantis) seemed to test the waters of returning to the midsized truck segment by launching the Jeep Gladiator for the 2020 model year. In its first full year of sales, the vehicle moved 77,542 units. Ram dealers are reportedly clamoring for a midsized truck to sell that would slot below the 1500 . The desire … [Read more...] about Dodge Dakota Revival Might Not Be Dead After All

This Is Getting Serious: GM Cuts Production Again Due To Chip Shortage

· March 3, 2021 ·

The production cuts affect four factories. The global semiconductor shortage continues to wreak havoc on the automotive industry as General Motors extends and expands its production shutdowns. The coronavirus pandemic has caused a surge in consumer electronics purchases, straining chip supplies and forcing automakers to make difficult choices as they struggle to build their cars. Computer chips have become integral to the automobile as automakers cram more technology inside of them. Production shutdowns will continue at three North American GM plants while a fourth in South America will shutter next month, reports Reuters . GM’s Fairfax, Kansas, and Ingersoll, Ontario, Canada, plants will see their shutdowns extended through mid-April, factories where it builds the Chevy Malibu , Cadillac XT4 , and Chevy Equinox . GM’s San Luis Potosí, Mexico, plant will continue its shutdown through the end of March, disrupting Equinox, Chevy Trax , and GMC Terrain production. … [Read more...] about This Is Getting Serious: GM Cuts Production Again Due To Chip Shortage

Alpine explains decision to ditch F1 team principal role

· March 3, 2021 ·

The rebranding of the outfit from Renault over the winter culminated in a management overhaul, with former team boss Cyril Abiteboul leaving the French car manufacturer. As part of a new organisation imposed by Alpine’s road car CEO Laurent Rossi, there will be no direct replacement for Abiteboul. Instead, his former responsibilities will be split between executive director Marcin Budkowski, and new racing director Davide Brivio. Laurent Rossi, Alpine Chief Executive Officer Photo by: Alpine Rossi said that the areas of responsibility for both men were clear, as he felt there was no need to make any further changes after last season. “Marcin will be in charge of the development of the chassis and the powertrain, so he'll coordinate the whole development of the car,” explained Rossi. “Davide will be racing director. “So the two of them will work in tandem to extract the best out of the car, that has been designed to put us into the best position in the future.
