Season 5 is shaping up to be a big year for Formula E. This year we’ll see all-new cars capable of running the full race distance and the addition of F1 stars Felipe Massa, Pascal Wehrlein, and Stoffel Vandoorne, both of which should ramp up the quality of the show, significantly. There’s more to the new Season 5 cars than extra range and new, “Batmobile” looks, however. They’re fast. Really fast. BMW Andretti driver António Félix da Costa set the pace for last week’s pre-season testing in Spain, setting the bar at 1:16.977. For those of you paying attention, that’s nearly 5 (five) full seconds faster than Oliver Turvey’s Season 4 pace lap. (!) That whole BMW Andretti team seems fast, by the way– and definitely the team to watch with da Costa’s BMW teammate, Alex Sims, setting the third fastest time of the week. When asked about it, da Costa replied that, “Alex is good. He’s quick! He’ll be a … [Read more...] about Formula E Season 5: the New Cars are SO Fast!
THE first of an exclusive line of custom-made £144,000 sportscars from Morgan has rolled off the production line - and it is a complete blast from the past. The Aero GT, revealed at the recent Geneva Motor Show, is the most extreme road-ready Morgan and is capable of 170mph. The first of just eight of the sportscars has been produced in brilliant Miami Blue, and it will feature on the showroom floor in Scotland's only official Morgan dealer, Revolutions. Each of the Aero GT models will be made to order, ensuring no two are the same. According to Morgan, the production of the final GT model will also mark the end of their Aero 8 series, which has been popular with UK petrolheads since 2001. Fitted with the same V8 engine as its predecessor, the GT is capable of 367bhp, allowing it to accelerate from 0-62mph in just 4.5 seconds. The interior is hand-finished, and also features the option of wood panelling. The latest model from the British manufacturer draws striking similarities to … [Read more...] about New Morgan Aero GT sportscar rolls off production line – and 170mph time warp motor is straight out the 1960s
Tweet TweetA few months ago, we received a very nice piece of information regarding the Batman vs superman movie. This was a teaser photo of the brand new Batmobile, and right off the bat (no pun intended), we could see the similarities with previous batmobiles. I am referring to the tank presented in the Dark Knight movies, which has a very angular, robust design that went quite well with the dark setting of the movie. Now we have the full reveal of the brand new Batmobile, and while we were right about them being similar, this one really steps up its game. It is a little lighter than we expected, but it seems that much more vicious. While many Batman fans out there are still complaining about Ben Affleck playing the icon, I am fairly confident that the Batmobile will be much more beloved. For now, enjoy the few photos we have of the Batmobile. … [Read more...] about Batman vs Superman movie Batmobile revealed
The all-electric Formula E bills itself as the future of motorsports. And despite the current lack of huge-name talent, noise and drama we expect from most forms of racing, automakers like Jaguar, Nissan, Audi and Porsche are all-in. Starting later this year, meet the car they’ll all race with. Formula E—formally the ABB FIA Formula E Championship—unveiled the latest Gen2 car today, and it’s what the series’ 10 teams will race in the 2018- 2019 season. It looks good! It had been likened by series officials to the Batmobile, and they more or less delivered on that idea. It looks similar to the current IndyCar and Formula One racers, with a bit more of a prototype vibe thrown in for good measure. Series CEO Alejandro Agag was quoted in ESPN as saying it’s more than just better looking too: “The cars will be faster and will have almost double the amount of energy storage capacity and double the range, demonstrating the continuous evolution of … [Read more...] about Formula E’s New Race Car Actually Looks Pretty Awesome—And It Has A Halo
The wait is over. This is the new Formula E race car for Season 5- and, yeah. As promised, it looks kind of like a Batmobile. Sure. Not the one I’d have chosen, but it’s Batmobile-y. Series organizers hope the new car’s unique looks help the series to continue to grow and, ideally, improves the show through better racing. One thing that will definitely help, I think, is the fact that season 5 will see the drivers finish the entire race distance in a single car, instead of swapping cars mid-race (something that, I thought, only validated concerns about EV range anxiety to the outside world). One thing’s for sure, according to Dilbagh Gill, team principal of the current season’s championship leader Mahindra Racing, is that removing the need to scramble from car to car is a positive step forward in making new or casual fans take the series more seriously. “I think, honestly, the only real negative thing that anyone can say about the championship … [Read more...] about Meet the All-New Formula E Race Car for Season 5
