Season 5 is shaping up to be a big year for Formula E. This year we’ll see all-new cars capable of running the full race distance and the addition of F1 stars Felipe Massa, Pascal Wehrlein, and Stoffel Vandoorne, both of which should ramp up the quality of the show, significantly. There’s more to the new Season 5 cars than extra range and new, “Batmobile” looks, however. They’re fast. Really fast. BMW Andretti driver António Félix da Costa set the pace for last week’s pre-season testing in Spain, setting the bar at 1:16.977. For those of you paying attention, that’s nearly 5 (five) full seconds faster than Oliver Turvey’s Season 4 pace lap. (!) That whole BMW Andretti team seems fast, by the way– and definitely the team to watch with da Costa’s BMW teammate, Alex Sims, setting the third fastest time of the week. When asked about it, da Costa replied that, “Alex is good. He’s quick! He’ll be a … [Read more...] about Formula E Season 5: the New Cars are SO Fast!
Tweet TweetA few months ago, we received a very nice piece of information regarding the Batman vs superman movie. This was a teaser photo of the brand new Batmobile, and right off the bat (no pun intended), we could see the similarities with previous batmobiles. I am referring to the tank presented in the Dark Knight movies, which has a very angular, robust design that went quite well with the dark setting of the movie. Now we have the full reveal of the brand new Batmobile, and while we were right about them being similar, this one really steps up its game. It is a little lighter than we expected, but it seems that much more vicious. While many Batman fans out there are still complaining about Ben Affleck playing the icon, I am fairly confident that the Batmobile will be much more beloved. For now, enjoy the few photos we have of the Batmobile. … [Read more...] about Batman vs Superman movie Batmobile revealed
The wait is over. This is the new Formula E race car for Season 5- and, yeah. As promised, it looks kind of like a Batmobile. Sure. Not the one I’d have chosen, but it’s Batmobile-y. Series organizers hope the new car’s unique looks help the series to continue to grow and, ideally, improves the show through better racing. One thing that will definitely help, I think, is the fact that season 5 will see the drivers finish the entire race distance in a single car, instead of swapping cars mid-race (something that, I thought, only validated concerns about EV range anxiety to the outside world). One thing’s for sure, according to Dilbagh Gill, team principal of the current season’s championship leader Mahindra Racing, is that removing the need to scramble from car to car is a positive step forward in making new or casual fans take the series more seriously. “I think, honestly, the only real negative thing that anyone can say about the championship … [Read more...] about Meet the All-New Formula E Race Car for Season 5
Well, this is a bit of a surprise. The Formula E championship has revealed the first pictures of the car that every team will run from season five onwards, and it is thus. Look at it. Like an electric Batmobile with a giant halo. It’s certainly very interesting to look at. As TopGear.com told you recently, season five of the Formula E series (which kicks off later this year, and into next) will feature cars that have double the energy storage capacity and twice the range. “This car represents the future of racing,” Formula E founder Alejandro Agag said. The full technical debrief will arrive when the car is launched at the Geneva motor show on March 6, so stay tuned for more info. For now, those looks.
