The Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre, four-cylinder, multijet diesel engine has been discontinued due to the high cost involved in upgrading it to meet the BS6 emission norms. The motor used to belt out 87 bhp at 4000 rpm and 200 Nm of peak torque at 1750 rpm and was mated to either a five-speed manual transmission or a five-speed AMT gearbox. Maruti Suzuki has also developed a brand new 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, diesel motor but as of now has no plans to upgrade it for meeting the BS6 emission norms.
