The next-generation C4 hatch seems to be coming along nicely. These are new teaser sketches that give a tantalising peek of what could be the new ‘C-Quatre’ C4 sedan for China, which will replace the market’s C4 L model next year. It is speculated that the new model’s front-end styling will be shared with the next C4 hatch, which is expected to debut in Europe towards the end of 2016. This represents a certain sense of continuity in terms of the French carmaker’s strategy to offer a C4 hatch in Western markets and a sedan version with an almost identical front-end design for the Chinese market. Citroen is now positioning the new C4 with its evolutionary styling direction as a more budget-friendly volume-selling option as opposed to the DS, which is the future of luxury for the brand. Word is that both the new C4 might use the same ‘Common Module Platform’ that PSA Peugeot Citroen is developing with its partner Dongfeng Motor Corporation. … [Read more...] about 2017 Citroen C4 sketches heralds China market sedan

It will be based upon the automaker group’s EMP2 platform, which already underpins the Citroen C4 Picasso and SpaceTourer, as well as the Peugeot 308, 408 and new 3008. The next-gen Peugeot 508 (current-gen facelift pictured), scheduled to rear its head in 2017, is set to debut PSA Peugeot-Citroen’s autonomous driving technology, reports Automotive News Europe. In the company’s annual meeting last month, CEO Carlos Tavares reportedly said that driver aids planned for the new 508 will be a step towards fully-autonomous driving. Moreover, a PSA spokesman told ANE that the new EMP2-based D-segmenter will offer hands-free steering and braking control in congested traffic, along highways and for parking, but did not elaborate. EMP2 currently underpins the Peugeot 308 and Citroen C4 Picasso. IHS Automotive analyst Ian Fletcher pointed out that such features are already popping up either as standard or as options in the class, citing as an example the Ford Mondeo. He said the 508’s autonomous driving features should help it compete better in the tough segment. Over here, we’re on the cusp of getting our PF3-based 508 facelift – … [Read more...] about Next Peugeot 508 to get autonomous driving features?
The new Citroën C3 Picasso has been seen testing in thin camouflage, revealing that it has design cues akin to those on the new C3, C4 Picasso and C4 Cactus. Spy shots of the model, the second incarnation of the C3 Picasso, show a rounded design, much like the C4 Cactus, with headlights following a similar design to the split units, which feature on the C4 Picasso. It also has a short bonnet with a high belt line, much like the recently spied upcoming Vauxhall Meriva, with which it shares underpinnings. At the back is a new rear light design, mounted high on the rear end, just below the slim rear window. The thicker black covering to the door panels is likely to be covering the French manufacturer’s Airbump technology; Citroën is understood to be introducing to the air-filled plastic panels to more models since first introducing them on the C4 Cactus. While official engine specifications have yet to be revealed, … [Read more...] about 2017 Citroen C3 Picasso spotted testing
