Nissan’s new electric vehicle is about to go on an epic adventure. The automaker today revealed the modified Ariya that will make the 17,000-mile trek from the North Pole to the South Pole that starts later this year. It’s been beefed up for the trip, but the company kept the mods to a minimum while showcasing its battery-electric powertrain. The biggest upgrades are its most noticeable – the suspension and tires. Nissan gave the electric crossover a beefier suspension and chunky 39-inch BF Goodrich tires, widening the fenders to accommodate the modified gear. On top, the automaker installed a roof-mounted utility unit that houses a deployable drone. Inside, the automaker integrated an espresso machine to make the mornings out in the wilderness a bit more manageable. Akio Toyoda Was A “Terrible Person” At Age 20
If we're to talk about automotive industry leaders around the world, Akio Toyoda will definitely be listed as one of the most notable. Toyota's outgoing CEO has been at the company's helm for more than a decade, leading the Japanese automaker to become one of the world's best these days. In a New Year's ceremony in Japan led by Akio Toyoda himself, the incoming chairman of the board talked about the challenges the company faced in 2022 and expressed his gratitude to everyone who supported the company. Guenther Steiner vows all resources will be invested into striking new VF-23
Guenther Steiner has no intention of spending money on “other stuff”, the Haas team boss adamant their only investment right now is “in the car”. Haas unveiled their new-look 2023 livery , the American outfit swapping out last year’s white for a predominantly black car that is sponsored by MoneyGram. It’s Haas’ third title sponsor in the team’s brief Formula 1 history having previously partnered Rich Energy and Uralkali, neither of which ended on a good note. That has at times left the team in a financial hole, but it’s one Steiner says was never as bad as it was made out to be. “I’d say we were never in a bad position,” he told Motorsport.com in an interview when asked if MoneyGram’s arrival had put the team in a better position. “2020 was not an easy position, because of the pandemic when that broke out. But I think yes, it puts us in a very solid position.” PlanetF1 recommends Ranked: The 10 possible F1 2024 destinations for Daniel Ricciardo in order of … [Read more...] about Guenther Steiner vows all resources will be invested into striking new VF-23
Acura aces hope Rolex 24 1-2 changes Honda’s Le Mans outlook
Listen to this article The Acura ARX-06, which won on its competition debut in last weekend's IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, will be confined to North America for 2023 with parent brand Honda yet to give the go-ahead for the car to be raced in the FIA World Endurance Championship. A spokesperson for Honda in Japan told Motorsport.com late last year that nothing had been decided about a potential WEC or Le Mans entry in 2024, while admitting such a venture was an "option for the future". Meyer Shank Racing driver Blomqvist believes that the competitiveness shown by the ARX-06 in Daytona could shift the dial for Honda's bosses. "I think it will give confidence to Honda and the decision-makers to give it a go," Blomqvist, who secured victory alongside Colin Braun , Helio Castroneves and Simon Pagenaud , told Motorsport.com. "I think they were a bit nervous about going there and not being able to fight for victory, but they’ve got to pat … [Read more...] about Acura aces hope Rolex 24 1-2 changes Honda’s Le Mans outlook
F1 pundit on why Charles Leclerc is under more pressure than Max Verstappen or Lewis Hamilton
Racing for Ferrari, Charles Leclerc is under more pressure than the likes of Max Verstappen or Lewis Hamilton with Johnny Herbert saying their team bosses also help relieve some of that for the latter two. Taking Ferrari’s reliability and strategy mistakes out of the equation, most of the headlines involving the Scuderia are driver focused. At Mercedes and Red Bull that focus is often on the team bosses as Toto Wolff and Christian Horner go at it in the media. Already this year the Mercedes motorsport boss has fired his first shot at Horner, saying he lives in the Red Bull team boss’ head “rent free” . Horner has yet to respond but, based on their past public slanging matches, it’s only a matter of time. It has been suggested that it’s a tactic to take the attention off their drivers, and if it is, it’s one both used to full effect during their 2021 championship fight. For Leclerc, though, there’s just pressure and, unlike with Verstappen or Hamilton, that also comes from … [Read more...] about F1 pundit on why Charles Leclerc is under more pressure than Max Verstappen or Lewis Hamilton
Tom Brady announces he is retiring from the NFL ‘for good’
Tom Brady, the legendary quarterback who established himself over more than two decades as the NFL's most prolific winner and arguably its greatest player, announced Wednesday that he is retiring. This time, he said, he will not change his mind. "I'll get to the point right away: I'm retiring, for good," Brady said in a 53-second video posted to social media. "I know the process was a pretty big deal last time. So when I woke up this morning, I figured I'd just press record and let you guys know first. So I won't be long-winded. You only get one super-emotional retirement essay, and I used mine up last year." Brady, 45, won seven Super Bowls over his 23 NFL seasons with the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He is the league's career leader in passing yards and touchdown passes, among many other categories. He was a three-time league MVP and a five-time Super Bowl MVP. Ferrari need to pick Charles Leclerc as No.1 driver, or risk losing him to a rival team
Even before a single lap has been run in the 2023 Formula 1 season, never mind a race result decided, Ferrari team boss Fred Vasseur has twice been asked to pin his colours to the mast – Charles Leclerc or Carlos Sainz. He went with neither, adamant it’s too early to back one driver over the other. “But,” he wrapped up the first time around, “if at one stage we have to take action, I will take action.” The second time, he ended with “and if at one stage I have to take action for Carlos or for Charles, I will do it.” It’s an action that, should it come, will have long-term consequences. Team-mates at Ferrari for the first time in 2021 it was widely-speculated that Leclerc could have the measure of Sainz, but that wasn’t to be with the Spaniard winning the first round – although only by 5.5 points. However, that was a season in which Ferrari were still trying to get their horse (powers) into order in the wake of their 2019 engine scandal. Once they’d sorted that out, … [Read more...] about Ferrari need to pick Charles Leclerc as No.1 driver, or risk losing him to a rival team
