Bears aren't typically thought to be on Mars, but an unusual rock formation recently spotted on the red planet's surface would have you thinking that they might be. On Dec. 12, the NASA Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter captured the peculiar sight: a rock formation on Mars that totally resembles a bear's face. The University of Arizona, which operates the the HiRISE (High Resolution Imaging Experiment) camera on board MRO, featured the photo of the ursine face formation as the HiRISE picture of the day on Wednesday. Houston artist David Adickes behind massive JFK bust erected near IAH
David Adickes , a resident Houston artist best known for his giant sculptures around the city, such as the iconic "Mount Rush Hour," featuring the U.S. presidents, and the Instagrammable "We Love Houston" sign , has created a new work that pays tribute to one of our nation's most beloved presidents. The 95-year-old sculptor recently created a 5-ton bust of the late President John F. Kennedy which will soon be christened near the George Bush Intercontinental Airport. The hollow statue of the nation's 35th president , located at 14550 John F. Kennedy Boulevard in East Aldine, will serve as a "welcome mat" for travelers arriving to the area. Carlos Silva, chairman of the East Aldine Management District and its East Aldine Arts Coalition—which funded the artwork—shared footage of cranes lifting the statue's parts into place on Tuesday. Arizona Republicans pick former Trump official to lead party
PHOENIX (AP) — Arizona Republicans on Saturday selected former state treasurer and Donald Trump aide Jeff DeWit to be the party’s next chairman, turning to a familiar face with relationships across the fractured party after its worst election in decades. DeWit replaces firebrand Trump ally Kelli Ward, who helped the former president in his efforts to overturn his 2020 election loss and was a vocal proponent of his false claim that the election results were fraudulent. She broke with precedent in last year’s primary, openly promoting a slate of election deniers who went on to lose the general election in November. “I'm going to work for you and we’re going to unify,” DeWit said after winning. “And we’re going to get back to beating Democrats and winning elections.” DeWit was supported by Kari Lake, who lost the race for governor but became a rock star on the right,; Mark Finchem, the defeated candidate for secretary of state; and retired Gen. Michael Flynn. Lake said shortly … [Read more...] about Arizona Republicans pick former Trump official to lead party
