Fourth-Gen Chevy Camaro Races Swapped Nissan 240SX In LS V8 Showdown

February 2, 2023 by www.motor1.com Leave a Comment

General Motors’ LS engines have ended up in a lot of cars that the American automaker did not make. It has been a go-to motor for enthusiasts and tuners for years because of its power potential, finding its way into an assortment of makes and models, like the 1991 Nissan 240SX in the Hoonigan video above. It’s facing off against another LS-powered monster – a modified fourth-generation Chevrolet Camaro. The 2002 Chevrolet Camaro features a juiced 6.0-liter V8 engine. The output with nitrous is between 700 and 800 horsepower (521 and 596 kilowatts). The power glides to the wheels and the 9.0-inch rear end through a two-speed gearbox. Inside, the owner gave the Chevrolet a safety cage. The Nissan’s owner swapped out the 240’s engine for an LS motor with nitrous. The coupe pumps out around 700 hp, which puts it on par with the Camaro. This would seem like a fairly even race looking at the engine specs, but there is a big difference between the two – weight. The Camaro tips the … [Read more...] about Fourth-Gen Chevy Camaro Races Swapped Nissan 240SX In LS V8 Showdown

Declaring last year’s AT03 to be “more peaky” that its predecessor, AlphaTauri’s head of trackside engineering Jonathan Eddolls believes there were times Pierre Gasly tried too hard and it “bit him”. Gasly was undoubtedly one of the stars of the 2021 Formula 1 season, the Frenchman on the podium in Azerbaijan, scoring 15 points that day towards his overall total of 110 that put him P9 in the drivers’ standings. It had pundits calling for Red Bull to give him a second chance alongside Max Verstappen. The team stood firm on their decision not to promote him again, Gasly spending 2022 with AlphaTauri. But unlike in 2022, he didn’t shine as he struggled to get a handle on his ground effect aerodynamic AT03. He scored just 23 points, suffering the biggest deficit compared to the previous season of any driver except Lewis Hamilton. PlanetF1 recommends F1 teams have ‘issues’ with ‘personal style of leadership of Mohammed Ben Sulayem’ Fernando Alonso’s message: ‘I will not … [Read more...] about AlphaTauri engineer highlights Pierre Gasly’s ‘fair’ to say problem with the new gen cars

Do you have reliable backup power during severe weather?

February 2, 2023 by www.chron.com Leave a Comment

(BPT) - As winter weather ravages across the country, homeowners are reminded that having a backup plan for power outages is important all year long. Reliable power is critical, especially for the elderly, families with children and people working from home. Now, more than ever, an automatic home generator is the best defense against power outages — particularly extended outages — no matter where you call home. Whether it's a hurricane, ice storm, blizzard, blackout or another weather threat, you can give your family peace of mind and security knowing you'll have a dependable power source on-hand. How does an automatic home generator work? A standby home generator is permanently installed outside a home, similar to a central air conditioning unit. It runs on self-feeding fuels such as natural gas or liquid propane (LP). The unit turns on automatically when power is lost to the home or business. The standby home generator can be a literal lifesaver, because it can power … [Read more...] about Do you have reliable backup power during severe weather?

February 2, 2023 by www.motor1.com Leave a Comment

Deliveries of the Alfa Romeo Tonale aren’t supposed to start in the United States until the second quarter of this year but the crossover is already enjoying very strong demand. So much so that the automaker is reportedly adding a second shift to its Pomigliano factory in Italy where the Tonal is produced. In the same plant, Stellantis also builds the Fiat Panda and the manufacturer is cutting a shift from the production of the small car. Soon, the same assembly line will also become responsible for the Dodge Hornet , which is essentially a rebadged version of the Tonale. The Italian crossover is currently sold in Europe and Japan, and will soon arrive on US shores where it has a starting price of $42,995 for the entry-level Sprint trim. Listen to this article On-screen graphics are regularly evolving to aid fans’ understanding of F1, while fresh camera angles and techniques are constantly explored to bring the on-track action alive. But no camera angle has got as close to giving fans a true feeling of what it is like inside the F1 cockpit than Driver’s Eye. Through a small 9mm x 9mm camera fitted to the padding of the helmet, fans are able to get a closer understanding of what the drivers can see through the visor, offering some spectacular footage. One of the finest moments last year came at the opening race in Bahrain, when Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen duelled for a series of laps for the lead. The F1 TV directors were able to switch to the Driver’s Eye camera in Leclerc’s helmet throughout the scrap, giving some incredible insight into how a race-winning overtake is executed from the cockpit. Designing a camera that is capable of delivering broadcast footage while fitting within the … [Read more...] about How Driver’s Eye camera became a Formula 1 TV gamechanger

The curse of sport is that unless you are number one, you are condemned to live under a cloud of failure. For no matter how many races you win, poles you take or points you score, there can only be one champion. The rest all fall short. Advert | Become a Supporter & go ad-free Red Bull know this only too well. November 8, 2008 by www.racefans.net Leave a Comment

The world’s economy is still reeling from the traumas of September and October. F1 sponsors give $300m to F1 teams each year – but more and more of those companies are reporting huge profit falls and staff cut backs. Some are even falling back on their national governments for financial support. Could we soon see a major reduction in F1 sponsorship? Here’s a look at how some of the biggest names in F1 sponsorship are faring in the growing global recession. Ferrari AMD – Electronics AMD began to experience problems before the economic downturn, beginning with its $5.4bn purchase of ATI. It has posted a loss for eight consecutive quarters and cut staff , but in October announced $8.4bn of investment from Abu Dhabi . Etihad Airways – Airlines The very high oil prices earlier this year put huge pressure on airlines, forcing 30 to close this year.
