Aprilia Tuono 1100R, BMW S1000R, MV Agusta F3 800 and Yamaha R1 on the track. All shod with the new Diablo Rosso Corsa 2 tyres. Tyres are one of the most important, yet one of the most ignored parts of a motorcycle. The level of negligence regarding tyres among motorcyclists is almost criminal. We all have come across a lot of motorcyclists to whom the only things that matter are the way a motorcycle looks and the power-torque figures on paper. And then the mileage, all right I am joking! Even if someone does bother about the tyres, it’s just the size of the rear tyre that matters (entirely for aesthetic purposes ). The Skoda Kodiaq has been in the news for more reasons than one. It was first previewed as the VisionS Concept at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show and within no time, Skoda is all set to unveil the production model of its first ever SUV. The Skoda Kodiaq does look impressive and has clean lines, something which Czech designers are good at. Skoda has confirmed its plans to launch the Kodiaq in India next year. Other than working on service, Skoda India will launch a slew of new models next year with the Kodiaq being the most significant. This is the second part of Gavin Green's instalment, the History of CAR. Click here for Part 1‘CAR was perceived as rebellious and different, the blokes who’d tell you the truth, even though there was a whole establishment mechanism out there that wouldn’t,’ says Steve Cropley, who took over as editor from Mel Nichols in autumn 1981. ‘Now we were the leader, we were the de facto establishment. That worried me.’Yet CAR’s circulation kept booming under Cropley. ‘We deliberately set out, without insulting the opposition, to have a point of view that made everyone else look like they were in a rut and in thrall to their publishers or to the motor industry. The force was with us.’Cropley, like Tasmanian Nichols, came from an isolated part of Australia, Broken Hill. Like his CAR predecessors, Cropley had newspaper training. He covered the Adelaide stock exchange, before moving to Cairns [in Queensland’s far north] to seek his … [Read more...] about The story of CAR Magazine: part 2

And when a crew from the Australian version of 60 Minutes came to North Carolina to do a story on him, he took the crew panning for gold outside Charlotte. “We didn’t find much,” Ambrose says. “We never do. But it’s nice to have a backup plan.” As the first Australian to compete in NASCAR’s top series in two decades, Ambrose thought he needed a plan B when he came to the U.S., after dominating V-8 Supercar racing Down Under. “I thought I’d be here for six months, run a few races, then be sent … [Read more...] about NASCAR Pans for Foreign Gold With Marcos Ambrose
