A PETROLHEAD has claimed parts from his classic Renault have appeared for sale on Facebook - 19 years after they went missing. Phil Abodium said he spent months upgrading his beloved Renault 5 Turbo before it was stripped of its parts. The dad-of-one added several custom modifications to his hatchback but claims a rogue garage worker then secretly stripped it down in 1999. The car nut told the Sunday Mirror that he believes they've now resurfaced on a Renault specialist Facebook group. He said he was shocked to see the car's bonnet for sale online and then found other parts that belonged to him bundled together worth £1,000. The 41-year-old said: "At the time the car was worth about £1,500. Now it would be a collector’s item, worth about £12,000. “I’d taken it to the garage to be spray-painted. A SOFTWARE engineer whose car was broken into when his keyless fob was hacked has come up with an ingenious trick to stop it happening again. Kieran Bingham last week found himself one of an increasing number of motorists who have become victims of the hi-tech attacks, that have recently tripled in the worst-hit areas. Crooks can steal motors within 30 seconds by using a device called a “relay box” which can be purchased on the web. This boosts the range of the key fob signal, tricking the car into thinking the fob is nearby so it unlocks the door. And, after discovering his Seat Leon had been broken into last Wednesday night, Kieran effectively put his fob out of the range of the crooks - by wrapping it in tinfoil. He then shared his experience on a local Facebook group and was overwhelmed by the response. He told Bristol Live: “The thread went crazy, we had over one hundred responses. “I had private messages from people too – as far as I can tell this … [Read more...] about Expert reveals simple trick to stop hacking gangs from stealing your car in 30 seconds
