The hotly anticipated, rear-wheel-drive, mid-engined sports car seems to be quite adept at hooning. Reformed sports car maker Alpine has dropped the first official teaser of its upcoming A120, one of the most hotly anticipated new models that is due for launch in 2017. Alpine’s dedicated website and Youtube channel have gone live, and ordering has opened for the initial First Edition model, suggesting the car’s launch is imminent. The Alpine name hasn’t been around since the mid-1990s. The company was founded 40 years earlier by Renault tuner and racer Jean Redele. It quickly graduated from making tuning parts to building Renault-based, rear-engined sports cars. Alpines proved hugely successful in racing and rallying, often punching well above their weight. Volkswagen's electric offensive is in full swing and the ID.6 represents the largest member of the company's dedicated EV lineup for now. Available exclusively in China, the purely electric SUV is a bigger brother of the global ID.4 , and much like the five-seat-only model, it's available locally in two separate versions. First deliveries are planned for late 2017. Alpine is now officially taking orders for the Premiere Edition , limited-edition version of its future production sports car . Reservations can be made via the company’s “bespoke app,” available at the brand’s official site . The Premiere Edition will be limited to only 1,955 cars, a reference to the year when Alpine was stablished. “Alpines made such a mark because of the elegance of their designs, their nimble handling and their memorable successes in world class motor racing and rallying,” Alpine’s managing director Michael van der Sande commented." Even though the concept was unveiled less than a month ago, the production-ready GLB is actually not that far behind.
