Bizzarrini was founded by former Ferrari and Alfa Romeo engineer Giotto Bizzarrini in the 1960s to build high-end, low-volume sports cars. Before going his own way, the talented man was directly involved in the development of iconic cars such as the 250 GTO and the 250 GT SWB "Breadvan." Not only that, he also worked on Lamborghini's first V12 engine through his engineering company Societa Autostar. He also worked for Iso Rivolta before founding Societa Prototipi Bizzarrini (Bizzarrini S.p.A) in 1964. Some 140 vehicles were assembled at a plant in Livorno before the company went bust in 1969. Fast forward to 2020, Pegasus Brands acquired the rights to the "Bizzarrini" name in a bid to revive the brand. The 5300GT was brought back to life as a continuation model for a limited production run of 24 units, and now, Bizzarrini is previewing an all-new car. MotoGP reveals list of teams for first MotoE season
Listen to this article The all-electric support class, which was officially launched last month , will feature a grid of 18 identical Energica bikes fielded by 11 teams when it holds its first races next year. Seven of the 11 teams will be the privateer teams currently racing in MotoGP - Tech 3, LCR, Marc VDS, Pramac, Angel Nieto, Avintia and Gresini - which will all run two bikes. The four teams taken from Moto2 and Moto3 paddocks have now been confirmed, with VR46, Pons Racing, Intact GP and SIC58 Squadra Corse all getting to field a single bike each. A first meeting between representatives of the MotoE teams was held on Friday in Qatar, with Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta also in attendance. “We had the first meeting with all the teams who will be competing next year in MotoE,” said series director Nicolas Goubert, formerly Michelin's MotoGP boss. “There will be 11 teams, running 18 bikes. All the bikes will be Energica bikes, the same, so it will be a cup [rather … [Read more...] about MotoGP reveals list of teams for first MotoE season
Following Arkansas’ lead, Hispanic lawmakers in CT seek to bar term ‘Latinx’ in state government
After years of cultural clashes over the use of the gender-neutral term “Latinx,” a group of Connecticut lawmakers is hoping to banish the word from the state’s lexicon. A bill filed recently by five Hispanic lawmakers would prohibit state agencies from using Latinx in any official communications and documents. The bill’s chief sponsor, state Rep. Geraldo Reyes Jr., D-Waterbury, argued that the term alienates native-Spanish speakers, particularly members of Connecticut’s sizeable Puerto Rican population . The use of Latinx as an alternative to typical gendered nouns such as “Latino” and “Latina” has divided many Hispanics and Spanish-speakers in recent years, with some, such as Reyes, describing it as an example of “woke” terminology being promoted mostly by white activists. Others say that the term offers inclusive language for people who do not identify with either gender, and that it has been gaining in popularity particularly among younger speakers. Earlier this month, … [Read more...] about Following Arkansas’ lead, Hispanic lawmakers in CT seek to bar term ‘Latinx’ in state government
Guenther Steiner vows all resources will be invested into striking new VF-23
Guenther Steiner has no intention of spending money on “other stuff”, the Haas team boss adamant their only investment right now is “in the car”. Haas unveiled their new-look 2023 livery , the American outfit swapping out last year’s white for a predominantly black car that is sponsored by MoneyGram. It’s Haas’ third title sponsor in the team’s brief Formula 1 history having previously partnered Rich Energy and Uralkali, neither of which ended on a good note. That has at times left the team in a financial hole, but it’s one Steiner says was never as bad as it was made out to be. “I’d say we were never in a bad position,” he told Motorsport.com in an interview when asked if MoneyGram’s arrival had put the team in a better position. “2020 was not an easy position, because of the pandemic when that broke out. But I think yes, it puts us in a very solid position.” PlanetF1 recommends Ranked: The 10 possible F1 2024 destinations for Daniel Ricciardo in order of … [Read more...] about Guenther Steiner vows all resources will be invested into striking new VF-23

George Russell and Lewis Hamilton kick off 2023 track action with tyre test
Mercedes have headed to Paul Ricard for a two-day test of Pirelli’s 2023 tyre compounds, with both George Russell and Lewis Hamilton in action. Paul Ricard plays host to the first meaningful track action of the 2023 Formula 1 season, as Pirelli are carrying out the first of three planned tyre tests ahead of the start of official pre-season testing. As revealed in November 2022, Pirelli have worked with the FIA to put together some additional tyre testing for their 2023 compounds, having been unable to fit in enough sessions during the frantic second half of the 2022 schedule. All 10 F1 teams are offered the opportunity to carry out tests on behalf of Pirelli over the course of the season, with Mercedes carrying out a two-day test at Paul Ricard on February 1st and 2nd. Mercedes give fans rare insight into how F1 pedals and drinks system work
Mercedes have offered a unique demonstration of how the pedals and drinks systems work in a Formula 1 car. Over the course of a dramatic Formula 1 Grand Prix, it’s easy to forget that the modern-day gladiators piloting the Formula 1 cars are mere humans and, as a drawback of that, have human needs such as basic hydration. During a tough Grand Prix, particularly in the hot sweaty climes of the likes of Singapore, drivers can lose several kilos during the race – it’s critical that drivers are able to have as much fluid as they can drink during the ordeal. Kimi Raikkonen may have become a meme in the final years of his F1 career after suffering a few ‘drinks bottle’ failures, ie. “No, Kimi, you will not have the drink”, but it’s a potentially serious failure if a driver was to suffer from complete dehydration. Of course, the cars aren’t literally fitted with a drinks bottle, nor with refrigeration. The fluids are put into what is essentially a bag, with a tube linking the bag to … [Read more...] about Mercedes give fans rare insight into how F1 pedals and drinks system work
Former F1 engineer questions Nico Hulkenberg’s ‘really weird appointment’ at Haas
Former Force India and Red Bull Racing engineer Blake Hinsey has questioned Haas’ decision to bring in Nico Hulkenberg, calling it a “really weird appointment”. Haas announced on the eve of the 2022 season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix they would not be renewing Mick Schumacher’s contract. Instead the team went with “solid, reliable racer” Hulkenberg. The German will partner Kevin Magnussen in an over-30 line-up, Hulkenberg at 35 years of age the third oldest driver on the grid. Although Hulkenberg hasn’t had a permanent race seat for three seasons, team boss Guenther Steiner firmly believes he’s the right man for the job, saying every team he has been with “always made a step forward” because he knows “exactly what needs to be done to make the team better”. But Hinsey, who worked with Hulkenberg at Force India, isn’t convinced. “I like Niko, because he was on the other car when I was at Force India,” he said as per GPFans . “He’s a good driver. “Is he going to be better … [Read more...] about Former F1 engineer questions Nico Hulkenberg’s ‘really weird appointment’ at Haas
