As a globally known personality, the world champion's words carry weight, and he's been granted the opportunity to use his fame for good. To his credit he has consistently done exactly that – and this week in Bahrain his focus has turned to human rights. The sport travels to several countries where the subject is an issue for campaigners. It's inevitable that as a major international event a Grand Prix attracts attention, and generates accusations of "sportswashing." The Bahrain GP has been the subject of that attention for many years, even before the protests in the country that led to the cancellation of the 2011 race. Back then Hamilton drove for McLaren – a team part-owned by Bahraini interests – and while he has always been honest inevitably he was wary about expressing strong personal views on potentially contentious subjects. Since then, he's got older and matured as a human being. He's grown into the role of spirited campaigner on many important subjects. … [Read more...] about Why Hamilton’s taken action on human rights

FAME II Certification Validity Extended: Will It Benefit EV Market In India?
Home Four wheelers oi-Punith Bharadwaj By Punith Bharadwaj Published: Wednesday, April 14, 2021, 19:41 [IST] The Ministry of Heavy Industry and Public Enterprise (MHIPE) has announced new validity norms for the FAME-II certificates. According to the new rule, the certificate will be valid for a year from the date it is issued. The earlier rule stated that all certificates issued will be valid only for that current (FY) Financial Year. This meant that all certificates were valid till March 31, 2021. However, the rule has been changed to make it easier for EV makers in the country. According to the notification sent by the MHIPE, all OEMs and testing agencies will have to submit revalidation certificates for all models of EVs. This process has to be completed within one month of the expiry of their validity. If not revalidated within a month from expiration, the FAME-II certificate is liable for cancellation. All-New 2022 Honda Civic Spied Out In The Open For The First Time
The officials are paying lots of attention to the back. The user vv16811 on the Civic XI forum snapped this image of an undisguised example of the new model under examination in Beijing. This was the only shot of the car he got. It wasn't clear why the Civic was there or why the rear was under such intense analysis. While only the front is visible, the looks match the recently released photos from the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (below). It's worth remembering that this is the China-market version of the Civic, and the styling could change a little depending on where Honda sells it. The vast majority of the design would remain the same, though. Hyundai Officially Confirms Folded Anode Tab Caused Kona EV Fires
It also confirmed the Ioniq 5 will have SK Innovation batteries. We were waiting for Hyundai to talk about the LG Energy Solution (LGES) statement on Kona Electric fires for a while, but now InsideEVs has an official explanation for them. According to Hyundai, it was indeed a folded anode tab in the batteries that caused the fires. Remember that these folded anode tabs could also be on the Chevrolet Bolt EV , which uses LG Energy Solution cells and also experienced fires recently . Hyundai told InsideEVs that the investigation led by MOLIT (Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport) in South Korea pointed that the folded anode tab “could allow the lithium plating on the anode tab to contact the cathode, resulting in an electrical short.” It’s this electrical short that would cause the fires. All the defective cells came from LGES’s plant in Nanjing. LG Energy Solution denied that this was the fire's cause and said the tests could not replicate … [Read more...] about Hyundai Officially Confirms Folded Anode Tab Caused Kona EV Fires
