Verdict 8.4 / 10 – Fort Lauderdale, Florida There's a big reason big trucks have become so popular amongst the lifestyle crowd: they're getting much easier to drive, live with, and look at. The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD, for example, now has some of the best technology and interior materials of any truck in the class. The arrival of the ZR2 and Bison off-road trims for the first time even means you'll be able to take this monster truck on the trail. So even if you're not regularly towing or hauling, the Silverado 2500 makes a lot of sense as a daily. In terms of all-around usability, the LT model I tested strikes the best balance of luxury and capability for the right price. Tick a few boxes and you get real leather, real wood, a huge touchscreen, and a punchy turbodiesel engine all for around $73,000 as-tested. A vehicle's ratings are relative only to its own segment and not the new-vehicle market as a whole. IndyCar Detroit: Start times, how to watch on TV, entry list
This weekend’s event will be the first on a new temporary street circuit in downtown Detroit, a 1.7-mile, nine-turn circuit with a split-in-two pitlane. The race will be held over 100 laps (170 miles), as opposed to the traditional double-header event format at the previous Belle Isle location. There have been five different winners in six IndyCar Series races to start the 2023 season: Marcus Ericsson (St Petersburg), Josef Newgarden (Texas and Indianapolis 500), Kyle Kirkwood (Long Beach), Scott McLaughlin (Barber), and Alex Palou (Indy Road Course). The record for the most different winners in a season is 11 in 2000, 2001 and 2014. The Detroit Grand Prix will be the 33rd IndyCar Series race held in the Motor City. A 2.5-mile street circuit in downtown Detroit hosted CART events from 1989-1991 before the event moved to Belle Isle Park in 1992. Will Power , Scott Dixon and Helio Castroneves have each won three times at Belle Isle and are tied for most wins at … [Read more...] about IndyCar Detroit: Start times, how to watch on TV, entry list

Drivers divided on Indy 500 ‘dragon weave’ and pitlane entry usage
The manoeuvre first appeared in 2019, when Simon Pagenaud used the tactic to keep his rivals at bay on the way to victory for Team Penske . In recent years, it has become more prevalent – with some drivers swerving wildly off Turn 4 and into the pitlane entrance to deter those following from using their slipstream. Josef Newgarden used the move to help him to defeat Marcus Ericsson on the final lap on Sunday. The cars then swerve to rejoin the racetrack just ahead of the pitwall attenuator, which is viewed as one of the most dangerous areas on the legendary 2.5-mile oval. The moves are not against IndyCar rules, as the leading car is the instigator of the change of direction rather than making a reactionary blocking move, and there are no track-limit rules at IMS. One driver, who did not wish to be named, told Motorsport.com: “Going down into the pitlane… You know, with the leaders, everyone has a clear view, it's fine. “But imagine a bit further back with cars … [Read more...] about Drivers divided on Indy 500 ‘dragon weave’ and pitlane entry usage

Ferrari-Powered Subaru Rally Car Video Looks Like Real-Life Racing Game
Sam Albert owns a 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX STI with a Ferrari V8 under the hood. It makes an incredible noise and is quite a rally car. It recently competed in the Oregon Trail Rally, and this exciting video recorded the run on the superspecial stage at Portland International Raceway. Albert built the car to exploit a loophole in the rules. The open four-wheel-drive class allowed naturally aspirated engines as large as 4.5 liters of displacement and had no other restrictions. He sourced a Ferrari F136 V8 powerplant out of a California from an exotic vehicle salvage yard. In the Ferrari, this 4.3-liter engine makes 454 horsepower and 358 pound-feet of torque. The setup allows for more linear power delivery than a turbocharged mill. In comparison, a stock 2004 WRX STI would have a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder producing 300 hp and 300 lb-ft. Albert makes the installation sound fairly straightforward. There was lots of room for the engine to fit between the frame … [Read more...] about Ferrari-Powered Subaru Rally Car Video Looks Like Real-Life Racing Game
“Really fast” new Detroit track “more like Long Beach than Belle Isle” – Ferrucci
Ferrucci, who finished third in last weekend’s Indianapolis 500, took some laps around the street course layout – which will be used for the first time this weekend – in his Chevrolet Tahoe SUV in the off-season. The 1.7-mile, nine-turn circuit features a huge straight on one of Detroit’s most famous streets and, unique in IndyCar, a split pitlane. “That place looks phenomenal,” said Ferrucci. “We went in the wintertime to go check it out. I just got a picture of pit lane. Super excited for everything. “Very happy to be going 200 miles an hour down Jefferson [Avenue, one of the five major roads in the city]. It was still bumpy in the Tahoe that we took a hot lap in, so I can't imagine what it's going to be like in the IndyCar. “The straight is longer than the one at the [Indy] GP. In the GP, you do have a lot of passing at the end of that straight going into the first turn. I think it will provide for some great racing. “I hope we have a great strategy race like we … [Read more...] about “Really fast” new Detroit track “more like Long Beach than Belle Isle” – Ferrucci
