Fred Vasseur does not believe his “good relationship” with Toto Wolff will disintegrate this season as he takes on the role of Ferrari team boss, fighting Wolff’s Mercedes for race wins and potentially the championship titles. Such is the relationship between Vasseur and Wolff that when the Frenchman joined Renault in 2016 and needed a place to live in England, he crashed at Wolff’s house. They remained on good terms when Vasseur swapped from Renault to Sauber, but already questions are being asked about whether they can maintain that friendship now that Vasseur is in charge at Ferrari. The 54-year-old joined the Scuderia last month, taking up the reins after Mattia Binotto tendered his resignation. The former Ferrari team boss had a fractious relationship with Wolff, the latter blaming the Italian for Mercedes’ engine reliability issues, saying Ferrari’s engine cheating scandal from 2019 had forced the Brackley squad to push beyond the limits. Today, though, the Mercedes … [Read more...] about Fred Vasseur believes ‘good relationship’ with former housemate Toto Wolff is an ‘advantage’

Texas veterans vow to protect the state’s hemp market as one state lawmaker hopes to crack down
LEANDER — Texas veterans are working to protect the state’s hemp market — and push to expand the state’s medical marijuana program — at the state Capitol during this year’s legislative session. The veterans and their supporters say they need access to the hemp product known as delta-8 to treat issues such as chronic pain, traumatic brain injuries and post-traumatic stress disorder. Delta-8 is widely available throughout Texas and, like marijuana, can create a feeling of euphoria. “So many veterans are using these products and reporting good results,” said Dave Bass, an Army veteran of Operation Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom who is diagnosed with PTSD. He’s also a longtime advocate in the legislative push for accessible, affordable THC products. Most states, including Texas, legalized hemp production following federal changes in 2018 that removed the plant from the list of illegal controlled substances. The hemp plant has a lower amount of tetrahydrocannabinol, or … [Read more...] about Texas veterans vow to protect the state’s hemp market as one state lawmaker hopes to crack down
Audi RS6 E-Tron Possibly Spied For The First Time
The Audi A6 E-Tron is the brand's upcoming electric sedan. These spy shots might be our first look at the RS6 performance variant of the EV. The body matches closely with previous spy shots of the A6 E-Tron. However, this one has larger brake discs with big, red calipers. This leads the spy photographers to think that the vehicle here could be the RS6 EV. Gallery: Audi RS6 E-Tron Spy Photos 16 Photos We can't be completely sure this is accurate, though. We would expect the RS6 also to have a more aggressive body. However, the camouflage wrap on this vehicle could be hiding things. The exterior design of this car includes split headlights and a smooth nose with a trapezoidal inlet along the bottom of the fascia. There's a sleek roofline from the side. At the back, there are wedge-shaped taillights. Audi hasn't shown the interior of either of its A6 E-Tron … [Read more...] about Audi RS6 E-Tron Possibly Spied For The First Time
Williams unveil new look and new sponsor for FW45 as 2023 car is launched
Williams have taken the covers off the colours of their 2023 challenger, with the FW45 becoming the third Formula 1 car to be shown this year. The FW45 was unveiled at the team’s ‘season launch’ event on Monday, hosted by popular Formula 1 presenter Will Buxton as he was joined on stage by Alex Albon and new Williams driver, Logan Sargeant. The livery itself confirmed Williams’ long-rumoured new partnership with Gulf Oil, with its logos featuring on the FW45’s colour scheme – which features the dark blue and black colours of last year, with the change of a matte finish being added to the car. The design features flourishes of lighter blue with tinges of orange to represent Gulf and fellow sponsors Duracell, with the team set to run the FW45 for the first time in pre-season testing in Bahrain from 23-25 February. Christian Horner: Red Bull doing the best they can with ‘significant handicap’
Christian Horner said it will only be when the Red Bull RB19 hits the track that the impact of their wind tunnel restrictions become clear. Red Bull were already set to receive the least amount of time of all 10 teams after winning the 2022 Constructors’ Championship thanks to the sliding scale in operation, while Williams have the most after propping up last year’s standings. But the situation for Red Bull has been further complicated by an additional 10 per cent reduction, that coming as part of their punishment for committing a minor overspend breach of the 2021 cost cap. Horner praised the work his team is doing as they battle this “significant handicap”, but Bahrain pre-season testing and the season-opener at the same venue will determine if it has been enough. “We’re doing the best with what we’ve got,” Horner told Motorsport.com . “The team have had to adapt to the handicap that we have. They’ve done a wonderful job in doing that. “Is it enough? We’ll find out in a … [Read more...] about Christian Horner: Red Bull doing the best they can with ‘significant handicap’
Gerhard Berger: Nyck de Vries almost ‘burned’ by missing out on F1 chance
Gerhard Berger “always believed” Nyck de Vries would have gone straight from winning the Formula 2 title onto the Formula 1 grid, conceding he would have “lost” that bet. This season De Vries will complete his fairytale arrival onto the Formula 1 grid, the Dutchman having taken the long way around. Winning the Formula 2 title in 2019, he headed to Formula E after failing to find a spot in motor racing’s premier league. But, having joined the Mercedes-Benz EQ Formula E Team, he kept one foot in the Formula 1 door as he also joined the roster of the Mercedes’ F1 reserve drivers. That meant the 2020/21 Formula E champion was already at Monza when Williams driver Alex Albon fell ill with appendicitis. Williams, powered by Mercedes, drafted in De Vries as the Thai driver’s replacement, the Dutchman scoring two points as he raced his way to ninth place. That put in the spotlight with the driver subsequently linked to several teams, including Williams. It was, however, Helmut … [Read more...] about Gerhard Berger: Nyck de Vries almost ‘burned’ by missing out on F1 chance
Gulf Oil provide fresh hope for future Williams FW45 livery takeover
While Gulf Oil did not feature as prominently as perhaps expected on the Williams FW45 livery, there are plans in the works on something more substantial. After Gulf Oil and McLaren went their separate ways following the 2022 Formula 1 season, it was not long before rumours emerged about Gulf potentially returning to another old friend in the form of Williams. And that reunion was indeed confirmed as Williams took the covers off to reveal the livery of their F1 2023 challenger, the FW45. However, the Gulf branding and colours perhaps were not as prominent as many had expected, with the FW45 livery more an evolution of the FW44 design, rather than what we saw at McLaren as the wildly-popular 2021 Monaco GP Gulf livery served as inspiration for McLaren’s 2022 design. But Mike Jones, CEO of Gulf Oil International, revealed that the brand is very much open to repeating that one-off livery takeover in this new Williams partnership. Asked by Motorsport.com whether a full … [Read more...] about Gulf Oil provide fresh hope for future Williams FW45 livery takeover
Gallery: All the angles as Williams unveil Gulf-inspired FW45 car
After months of speculation, Williams have confirmed a partnership with Gulf Oil and showcased their first car of the new partnership. The FW45, which aims to improve on last season’s P10 finish, is coloured in the traditional blue of Williams but fans may be a little disappointed to not see a more radical change. The iconic light blue and orange colour scheme of Gulf is on the 2023 challenger but, unlike McLaren in previous Monaco Grands Prix, Williams have only added subtle hints of the sponsor’s colour scheme. Instead, the car is predominantly in the Williams blue, a darker shade than that of Gulf, with a new design added to the wheel covers. The team remains in a sponsorship with Duracell and that has led to the engine cover picking up the colours of the famous battery company. The Gulf sponsorship meanwhile is on the rear wing as well as the nose with the light blue and orange tone also featured all around the car. Williams officially confirm sponsor deal with iconic F1 brand Gulf Oil
Williams will run with a new sponsor for the 2023 season and beyond after confirming a multi-year deal with the iconic sponsor Gulf Oil. Gulf most recently appeared on the grid in the 2022 Monaco Grand Prix when McLaren ran a special livery in the oil company’s blue and orange colours. They did so the year previously as well having first worked together in the 1960s and 1970s but now Gulf have turned their attention elsewhere. The American company have become a new sponsor of Williams. The two companies worked together in F1 and Can-Am racing in the late 1960s and early 1970s, before linking up again in the 1990s when the McLaren F1 GTR ran in Gulf’s iconic blue and orange colour scheme at Le Mans. While Williams describe the Gulf reunion as a “major signing”, they are not set to act as a title sponsor, while any dreams of a base livery as stunning as the one which McLaren ran at Monaco in 2021 were dashed with the reveal, an FW45 livery that is very much an evolution of the … [Read more...] about Williams officially confirm sponsor deal with iconic F1 brand Gulf Oil
