Tuner cars interest almost everyone into automobiles. And why not – buying a sportscar to satiate you need for speed is no big deal if you have the money, but the joy of building your own fast car is a lot more involving and of course, a lot less expensive. Shopping online for parts, making sure you have the correct codes for the parts, spending weekends at a garage smelling the fuel, listening to the turbo whistle, that louder exhaust note… The list is virtually endless, no? This Maruti runs the old Baleno sedan's 1.6-litre petrol engine with a bolt-on turbocharger and is quicker than a few German performance cars on track Not to mention, that feeling of beating an expensive European performance car in a small Japanese tuner! Talking about tuner cars in India, the Maruti Suzuki Swift needs no introduction as one of the most popular ones in the country. The Swift has always been looked upon as an enthusiast car with its kind of sprightly performance, nimble handling and … [Read more...] about This might just be India’s quickest accelerating Maruti Suzuki Swift!

The new-gen Maruti Swift is among the sportiest B1-segment hatchbacks you can buy today. Thanks to its funky looks, sufficiently powerful engines, and low kerb weight, it’s only a matter of time before modified Swifts become a regular sight on our roads. Well, some Swift owners have already started customizing their rides. Seen here is perhaps India’s first-ever lowered new-gen Maruti Suzuki Swift. The lowered stance of this new-gen Swift is courtesy of Cobra lowering springs. These springs are made in the Netherlands and have been imported into the country by Delhi-based AM Racing. The lowered Swift has a ground clearance of roughly 140 mm, which is 30 mm lower than the stock car. To put things in perspective, the sporty BMW 3-series has a ground clearance of 140 mm. Also, the modified new Maruti Suzuki Swift you see here has a set of aftermarket 17-inch alloy wheels. These are shod with 215/45-spec tires. The cost of the imported lowering springs for the new-gen Swift is … [Read more...] about India’s first-ever lowered new Maruti Suzuki Swift: This is IT!
The new Maruti Suzuki Swift, introduced in India during February 2018, is already a mega hit, what with over 1 lakh bookings received in less than 2 months of launch. Maruti Suzuki has now started exporting the right-hand drive Swift to South Africa, a key export market for the car. The Swift exported is built from the newly commissioned Gujarat factory. Earlier this year, Maruti moved production of the Baleno premium hatchback from Gujarat to Manesar to accommodate the new Swift, which is expected to generate massive demand, and along with it long waiting times. Now that Maruti is exporting the Swift to South Africa, waiting times for Indian buyers may go up further. The 3rd generation Swift that has been exported to South Africa is yet to be launched there. The car sold in India is offered with two engine options – a 1.2 liter K-Series petrol with 82 Bhp of peak power and 113 Nm of peak torque, and a 1.3 liter Fiat Multijet turbodiesel with 74 Bhp and 190 Nm. Both engines get a … [Read more...] about New Maruti Suzuki Swift: Exports to South Africa commence from Gujarat factory

The Collins English Dictionary defines 'pick and choose' as, "When you carefully choose only things that you really want and reject the others". The vehicle has to be different and it must offer something out of the ordinary. Hatchbacks have been the driving force behind the Indian motoring industry and Maruti Suzuki has always been the king of this body style and instrumental in helping millions of people realize their dreams of buying a four-wheeler. Of the numerous hatchbacks that the carmaker launched in the country, the 800, the Zen and the Swift stand out for achieving the fine balance between practicality and driving fun. But while the 800 and the Zen were ideal 'first' cars in their heyday, the Swift erased the notions of a hatchback being an entry-level car. By integrating equipment fit for a sedan in the convenient package of a hatchback, the Swift established the idea of a premium hatch. I still remember the long queue outside the Maruti Suzuki dealerships on the day the Swift was launched and that was a clear sign of things to come.
