The UK “definitely has its place” in the World Rally Championship's future, according to FIA rally director Yves Matton, despite Rally GB losing its slot in the schedule for 2021. Plans to relocate the UK event to Northern Ireland for 2021 collapsed as the move hinged on Bobby Willis – the event’s promoter – securing £2 million in government funding, but in January it was confirmed that months of talks involving Tourism NI officials had come to naught. While recognising the event’s benefits, they felt it “did not represent good value” in the difficult economic climate following the coronavirus pandemic. With the UK not hosting a scoring round of the WRC for only the third time ever, it has led to fears in some quarters that Willis and his allies at Motorsport UK will struggle to win the place back. However, Matton has said a UK event would be welcomed back onto the WRC calendar. “Bobby Willis and his team have put in a lot of effort to bring the World Rally … [Read more...] about UK “definitely has its place” on future WRC schedules

Sherco TVS wins Baja Aragon for second year in a row
Metge established a narrow 28-second lead over teammate Lorenzo Santolino on the opening day, before streaking clear of the rest of the field on Day 2 to take an emphatic victory by 3m39s. Metge had also powered Sherco TVS to victory in Baja Aragon last year, shortly after joining the Indo-French squad. “I am thrilled to be finishing at the top for the second time," said Metge. Egyptian Mummy Parade Uses Special Trucks To Transport Pharaohs
A total of 22 Egyptian royal mummies were moved between two museums. Egyptians were in for a treat of historical and cultural spectacle this weekend. A total of 22 royal Egyptian mummies – 18 kings and 4 queens – were transported from the Egyptian Museum in central Cairo’s Tahrir Square to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat. The procession covered around 5 kilometers (3.1 miles), which involved lights and ceremonies in honor of the country's ancient pharaohs. Bt these royal mummies weren't transported by normal hearses ; specially-made trucks were used, obviously decorated in a callback to ancient Egyptian civilization. Hidden underneath are special shock-absorbers to make sure that the preserved remnants were transported as smoothly as possible. Inside the trucks, the preserved pharaohs were transported in special nitrogen-filled boxes to help shield them from external natural elements. The roads along the long route were also cleared, while the … [Read more...] about Egyptian Mummy Parade Uses Special Trucks To Transport Pharaohs
New Zealand bubble boost for Supercars
The bubble between Australia and New Zealand will come into effect at 11:59pm on April 18, with travellers able to move between the two countries without quarantine or self-isolation. It will, however, be constantly dependant on local outbreaks on either side of the Tasman, which could lead to isolated restrictions. A valve of sorts has been in place for several months, with several Australia states allowing quarantine-free entry for people arriving from New Zealand. However until now it hasn't been a reciprocal arrangement. The bubble reflects the similar approach taken to fight the global pandemic from the two countries, which have both used their isolated geography to pursue a quasi-elimination strategy. That's seen tough measures on both international and even internal borders in cases of outbreaks, as well as strict lockdowns for even the smallest of instances of community transmission. As a result there have been just 909 virus-related deaths in Australia, … [Read more...] about New Zealand bubble boost for Supercars
