Breaking the law doesn’t come cheap. Video cameras are everywhere today. Not only are they in our pockets, but security cameras have also proliferated as the technology becomes more affordable. That means there are more eyes than ever waiting and watching for you to screw up. So it shouldn’t be too surprising that there’s a video from Italy of a Land Rover Range Rover Evoque illegally driving on a beach, which earned the driver a hefty fine. The video shows the luxury SUV in Salento, Italy, in the southern part of the country, as it makes deep rivets driving across the soft sand of Porto Cesareo’s beach. It doesn’t get stuck, which would have only complicated matters further for the driver, though the driver’s ill deed is captured from multiple angles. One vantage point is from the beach, showing the SUV speeding away as a group of residents attempts to shoo it off the beach. A security camera also captures the Land Rover , though it’s located far away from the action. … [Read more...] about Range Rover Evoque Caught Driving On Beach Gets $3,200 Fine

Sandown Supercars: Van Gisbergen sweeps Sunday poles
The first session started in light-but-consistent rain, the red flag coming out before anybody had time to set a lap. The culprit was Jake Kostecki, who ended up beached in the gravel at Turn 1, complaining of a stuck throttle over the radio. When the session got going it was the Triple Eight cars that set the pace, Jamie Whincup leading initially with a 1m18.566s before van Gisbergen took over with a 1m18.327s. That was followed by a nervous moment for the Race 1 winner , who bounced over a kerb at Turn 2, spun through Turn 3 an ended up facing the wrong way on the entry to Turn 4. Had that prompted a red flag he would have lost his fastest time and been booted out of the session, however van Gisbergen was able to get going under his own steam to avoid a stoppage. That effectively sealed Race 2 pole for van Gisbergen ahead of Whincup, Chaz Mostert and Cam Waters. The rain eased but the track stayed wet for the second session, van Gisbergen leading from … [Read more...] about Sandown Supercars: Van Gisbergen sweeps Sunday poles

Sandown S5000: Golding wins confusing first heat
Things got off to a confusing start in mixed conditions, a lights malfunction leading a number of drivers to mistake the start of the formation lap for the start of the race. The mix-up was costly for both Team BRM entries, pole-sitter Joey Mawson spun by Golding on the way into Turn 4, while points leader Thomas Randle was left with a broken front-right corner after tagging Kaleb Ngatoa. The race was red-flagged as Randle's car was retrieved from the exit of Turn 4, Nathan Herne, Golding and Mawson taking the opportunity to switch to slick tyres. The race, now a seven-lap sprint, restarted behind the safety car with Golding leading Herne and Mawson at the back of the 10-car field. Initially the wets looked like the right tyres, Cooper Webster and Ngatoa blasting past Herne and looking like they'd chase down Golding. That was until they got stuck in their own battle over second place, which came to an end of the second-last lap when Webster spun at Dandenong Road … [Read more...] about Sandown S5000: Golding wins confusing first heat
