This New 2014 Lotus Evora Finally Sold After Seven Years On Dealer Lot

· February 8, 2021 ·

Talk about waiting for the right buyer. In 2019, it's estimated that 92 million new vehicles were built. That's an astounding number, and you know that not every new car immediately finds a new owner. We've covered numerous studies over the years talking about new cars that sell quickly versus those that sit on dealership lots. In the case of this Lotus Evora, it sat for a very long time. According to Car and Driver, it actually sat for seven years before finally finding a home.We hear about such things every now and then. In early 2020 we talked about Lexus selling three new LFA supercars despite the car having been out of production since 2012. Niche vehicles don't always have gobs of buyers waiting in the wings with cash in hand, especially ones that are on the pricey side. With a base MSRP of approximately $80,000 the 2014 Evora S 2+2 certainly fits that category, but this particular model at Secor Lotus in Connecticut was allegedly more like $90,000. Tesla Model S Plaid: Is It Really Worth $140,000?

· January 13, 2021 ·

This Tesla fan says, "Absolutely." The Tesla Model S Plaid carries a starting price of $139,990. At a time when Tesla 's goal is to crank out and sell cheaper cars and potentially design a smaller "affordable" vehicle, the high-performance Model S Plaid will be its priciest car to date. Can it justify this higher sticker price? Will people buy it? It feels like Tesla's Battery Day happened a very long time ago, though it was actually near the end of September 2020. Tesla got a bad rep from many people who accused it of falling short at the event, and only showing off battery tech that will take years to come to market. However, the automaker also officially announced its Model S Plaid at the event . The Model S Plaid is currently available for pre-order on Tesla's website. The company says it estimates deliveries will begin in late 2021. However, in following suit with Tesla's past practices, little is know about the car aside from its most important specs, which … [Read more...] about Tesla Model S Plaid: Is It Really Worth $140,000?

2018 Skoda Karoq Officially Revealed As Yeti’s Successor

· May 18, 2017 ·

All-new compact crossover heavily related to the VW Tiguan and SEAT Ateca applies the Kodiaq formula on a smaller scale. After a painstakingly long teaser campaign, Skoda is finally ready to show off the all-new Karoq compact crossover serving as a replacement for the aging, yet still desirable Yeti. Not only has the name changed, but the new model adopts an entirely new design heavily influenced by the larger Kodiaq. While at a first glance it may look like a downsized version of the company’s first true SUV, its smaller brother does have its own identity once you look closer. The biggest modifications are noticeable in the design of the headlights and taillights, which although are still reminiscent of the Kodiaq , the clusters now have a somewhat different shape and the LED light signature is also new. Karoq Cabriolet concept coming: Even Skoda Is Making A Cabriolet-SUV, But Only As A Concept A sister model of the Volkswagen Tiguan and SEAT Ateca, the Karoq … [Read more...] about 2018 Skoda Karoq Officially Revealed As Yeti’s Successor

Peugeot Back In The Pickup Truck Game With The New… ‘Pick Up’

· June 21, 2017 ·

The creatively named workhorse is based on a part Japanese part Chinese pickup. Peugeot has a new pickup truck to call its own after a three-year hiatus following the demise of the 207-based Hoggar. While the latter was for South America, the new model simply dubbed “Pick Up” is going to be available exclusively in Africa and will essentially be Peugeot’s version of the Zhengzhou Nissan Auto (ZNA) Rich New. Pictured below, the model is a Dongfeng-built pickup truck derived from a first-generation Frontier/Navara (D22) introduced way back in 1997. The Peugeot Pick Up’s roots are pretty obvious as the changes are limited to the different grille and slightly modified graphics of the headlights and taillights. Needless to say, the lion badge has replaced Dongfeng’s logo. In a bid to spice things up a bit, the large "Peugeot" lettering at the back is a nod to the 404 and 504 pickups. Photos of the interior have not been released, but the ones showing the ZNA Rich New should paint … [Read more...] about Peugeot Back In The Pickup Truck Game With The New… ‘Pick Up’

Dale Earnhardt death: NASCAR’s tragic Daytona 500 remembered

· February 14, 2021 ·

I’m not sure what surprises me more – that it’s 20 years since Dale Earnhardt died or that I have been covering NASCAR racing even longer than that. So much has occurred in NASCAR since I began covering the sport on a regular basis in April 1998 that it’s often hard to remember many details about any particular race weekend. Oh, I’ll remember who won a race, or a particularly bad wreck or sometimes it may be something totally off the wall, like the giant Tropicana Orange that rolled onto the track at Chicagoland Speedway in 2004 during a qualifying session. But I – and I’m sure everyone else who was a part of it – remember so much more from that day. The day Dale Earnhardt died in a last-lap crash in the 2001 Daytona 500. Dale Earnhardt's fatal crash Photo by: F. Peirce Williams / Motorsport Images It was only my third time covering the Daytona 500 for The Charlotte Observer . Back then, The Observer had two beat writers who covered NASCAR – the late David … [Read more...] about Dale Earnhardt death: NASCAR’s tragic Daytona 500 remembered
