The very first all-new electric TX taxi from the London EV Company (LEVC) has been handed over to a very eager owner. David Harris from Chingford in north East London has been a black cab driver for 21 years and was one of the first to put down a deposit for the new electric taxi when order books opened in 2017. The new TX electric taxi offers passengers wheelchair accessibility and features such as on-board wifi, phone/laptop charging, a spacious cabin with six seats, wide opening rear hinged doors, contactless card machines and a panoramic roof. Inside the cabin a multi-filter system removes gases and particles from the incoming air. In addition, an in-built air quality sensor also automatically closes the external air intake if it detects increased levels of pollution in the outside air – protecting passengers, and the driver, from the capital’s often poor-quality air. No, Baird’s called Porsche.Baird & Co refines its gold at its refinery — the UK’s largest — near London’s City Airport. It forms the metal into a variety of different sized bars and ingots, from small slips to massive blocks. On this occasion it had made 24 of its largest bars, weighing in at 12.5kg apiece. Each is the size of a house brick, and worth more than half a million dollars.Once formed into these bars, the company needed to move the pure gold to a secure vault. However the Baird & Co vault is underground, beneath its Hatton Garden showroom, and 12 miles from the refinery — across one of the busiest cities in the world. This transport process has a few requirements. Every moment the gold is out in the open it’s at risk, thus it needs to move quickly. It … [Read more...] about Porsche’s Gold Rush Takes $14m of Bullion for a Joyride Across London
