LONDON (AP) — The Formula E motorsport series is pressing ahead with plans to open its season in Saudi Arabia, even as global business leaders have suspended ties with the Gulf kingdom over the disappearance of a journalist. Turkish officials say they fear Saudi agents killed and dismembered Jamal Khashoggi after he entered the consulate in Istanbul nearly two weeks ago. Khashoggi wrote columns in the Washington Post that were critical of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The alleged incident led to business executives and media companies pulling out of a major investment conference in Saudi Arabia this month. But Formula E is not ready to pull out of Saudi Arabia, which will host the electric racing championship season opener on Dec. 15 in the outskirts of the capital Riyadh. LONDON – The NIO Formula E team has revealed its new driver roster and official partner for season five of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship. Unveiling the teal and white #BlueSkyComing NIO 004 Generation 2 race chassis at Copper Box Arena during the live-streamed event, NIO also confirmed the arrival of French racer Tom Dillmann, who will partner with British driver Oliver Turvey for the new campaign. “I am delighted to be joining NIO. Jaguar Unveils New Formula E Car, Piquet & Evans Return
LONDON – Panasonic Jaguar Racing unveiled their Jaguar I-TYPE 3 second-generation Formula E race car at the Design Museum in London on Wednesday. The vehicle’s bold new design pushes the boundaries of innovation and technology, showcasing the future of electric motor racing. The British team has also confirmed that Brazil’s Nelson Piquet Jr and New Zealander Mitch Evans will return to represent Panasonic Jaguar Racing in season five of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship. Last season, Piquet and Evans contributed to Panasonic Jaguar Racing’s most successful season to date in 2017-18, as they more than quadrupled the team’s points from season three.
