The locally made D-Empir V4 explosive ordnance disposal robot demonstrates some of its capabilities. Defence Technology Institute The Defence Science and Technology Department (DSTD) have certified two locally made Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) robots to be used for commercial purposes and in Thailand's deep south. The Defence Technology Institute (DTI) announced yesterday the DSTD certified its two C-IED robot models, D-Empir V4 and Noonar V4. The robots were developed under the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Robots project for equipping military and civilian missions such as the recovery and disposal of explosive ordnance. The D-Empir V4 model was developed by DTI and Mahanakorn University of Technology (MUT) under a project initiated in 2017. The robots will be sent to the Internal Security Operations Command Region 4 Office for distribution in the country's provinces in the deep south. As financial pressures mount with inflation and gas prices reaching new highs, President Biden will ask Congress on Wednesday to suspend federal gas taxes for the next three months to ease costs. Biden is also expected to urge states to suspend state gas taxes — since state levies are often higher than federal taxes. The Biden administration says the tax holiday is a way to offer more " breathing room " and lower costs in the long run. What is the meaning of a gas tax holiday? The gas tax holiday would suspend the tax of 18 cents per gallon of gas and 24 cents per diesel that consumers normally pay at the pump for three months. The federal gas taxes paid by drivers goes towards the Highway Trust Fund, which Biden has stated would not be negatively affected by the tax suspension as the deficit is at a low wherein the country can "afford" the tax holiday. Mr Jurin says the negotiations could help ensure a sufficient supply of fertiliser for Thailand at more affordable prices. The Commerce Ministry and Thai Chamber of Commerce plan to negotiate with fertiliser suppliers in Saudi Arabia about purchases in a move to address high prices and shortages in the country. According to Commerce Minister Jurin Laksanawisit, Saudi Arabia recently allowed two additional Saudi suppliers sell fertiliser to Thailand. The sole existing supplier is Saudi Basic Industries Corporation, known as SABIC. The two new companies are MA'ADEN (Saudi Arabian Mining Co) and ACO Group, a subsidiary of Alim Investment Co.
