The numbers are in: 10.6 million vehicles sold in 2017. [UPDATE] The Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance has posted the final sales numbers for 2017, with combined sales standing at 10,608,366 units. Group Renault moved 8.5 percent more cars last year by delivering 3,761,634 vehicles, while Nissan shipped 5,816,278 units (up by 4.6%). Nissan’s GT Academy still going strong after eight years
Nissan confirms plans for a big event timed to concede with the launch of Gran Turismo Sport. Nissan's GT Academy is entering its eighth year as the company has launched its latest iteration of the popular racing competition. Six million entrants have competed in the event since 2008 and soon players from six different territories - including Australia, Indonesia, Mexico, North Africa (Algeria, Egypt and Morocco), the Philippines, and Thailand - will be able to enter this year's competition. Those living outside aforementioned regions shouldn't fret as Nissan has revealed a bigger competition is slated to concede with the launch of Gran Turismo Sport which will be available on PlayStation 4 starting November 15th. Formula 1 is the pinnacle of motorsport, as we are often told. But to get to the pinnacle you have to pass through a journey and in a competitive environment like motorsports that means overcoming significant hurdles. Those hurdles are even greater for drivers coming from outside Europe, as was spelled out quite plainly at the FIA Sport Conference in Manila. For F1 to market itself as the best drivers in the world, it really needs to have the best drivers in the world, who have come up through the ranks from countries around the globe. Today it cannot really say that. The cost of climbing the ladder is prohibitively high and access to the feeder series is limited, especially in regions like Asia. IndyCar announces new international broadcast partners
Following last week’s revelation of renewed international partners , IndyCar has revealed new broadcasters for IndyCar action in various countries within Europe, Asia and South America. Sport 1 will carry IndyCar action in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, on the Sport 1+ premium service platform, with selected highlights on Sport 1. Arena 4 in Hungary and Sport Extra in Romania, new for 2020, will continue their coverage while new for 2021 is Eurosport for Poland and the Indian sub-continent, along with TV Arena Sport for Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Slovenia.
