There we were thinking the Ultimae would be the last Lamborghini to have a pure V12 and Lamborghini is proving us wrong with the Invencible and Autentica duo. The former is a coupe while the latter is a roadster, serving as the swan song for the twelve-cylinder engine before the impending hybrid era. Both are based on the long-lasting Aventador platform, which premiered 12 years ago with the original LP 700-4. The Invencible and Autentica are a mélange of past models by featuring styling cues derived from several V12 machines, including the Reventon. It was a limited-run special edition based on the Murcielago but with an exterior appearance that went on to preview the Aventador. Lamborghini says the pair also takes after the Veneno , which was arguably the wildest-looking derivative of the Aventador. If the hood design looks familiar, that’s because it has been borrowed from the Essenza SCV12, a track-only beast with the 6.5-liter unit dialed to 818 horsepower. 2023 … [Read more...] about Lamborghini Invencible And Autentica One-Offs Debut As Pure V12 Finale

Lamborghini Urus PHEV Spied In The Arctic Testing Cold Weather Capability
Not so long ago, seeing a Lamborghini in the snow was a big deal. LM002 notwithstanding, that all changed a few years back with the arrival of the Urus. The all-season Lambo is expected to perform in any climate, and that goes for the future plug-in hybrid trim level. New spy shots capture a Urus PHEV test vehicle making sure winter weather is not an issue for the electrified super SUV. And if rumors about the powertrain are correct, there shouldn't be any major surprises. Our sources believe that Lamborghini will borrow plug-in hybrid tech from Porsche , specifically the twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 and electric motor from the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid . If a Porsche engine in a Lamborghini sounds a bit sacrilegious, take heart in knowing it shouldn't be just a straight swap. Whereas Porsche offers 690 horsepower with this powertrain, Lamborghini could tweak it to make upwards of 820 hp in top trim, with a less-powerful variant making around 675 hp. 50 Most Expensive Cars In The World
When it comes to high-end hypercars and super-fast supercars, a few companies should come to mind first: Bugatti, Ferrari, Koenigsegg, Rimac, and Pagani, among others. These manufacturers have cemented themselves as the top dogs in the supercar and hypercar space, extending to their wealthiest clientele the fastest, rarest, prettiest – and in this case – most expensive cars on the planet. But in order to find out which of these unattainable-to-most vehicles is the priciest, we've scoured the invoice sheets and uncovered 40 cars all worth $1 million or more. The group includes hybrid Ferrari convertibles, an American speed king , a few electric Hypercars , and two a one-of-a-kind Rolls-Royce cars built for royalty. We should note, though: The prices listed here are the price of the vehicles when new. So we’re not counting auction cars like the Ferrari 250 GTO, or overpriced secondhand sales. But don’t worry, there’s still hundreds of millions worth of cars here to whet … [Read more...] about 50 Most Expensive Cars In The World
As Texas thaws again, calls to rethink how cities prepare for winter weather are renewed
Two years after a winter storm killed 246 people and left millions of Texans without electricity, Texas cities once again buckled under a menacing winter storm. Freezing temperatures and ice storms pushed large portions of the state to a standstill this week. Many school districts shut down through at least Thursday as ice made roads and bridges in Dallas and Austin nearly impossible to traverse. Heavy ice brought down power lines all over Austin, prompting widespread power outages in the capital city of the nation’s second-most-populous state. Hundreds of thousands of businesses and households across Central and East Texas remained without power on Thursday as utility crews worked nonstop to repair downed power lines. Unlike in February 2021 when the state’s electric grid nearly collapsed , this week’s outages were caused by localized issues, such as power lines downed by fallen trees. Still, the weather ultimately caused major disruptions and closures, leaving Texans … [Read more...] about As Texas thaws again, calls to rethink how cities prepare for winter weather are renewed
Romain Grosjean finds it ‘quite funny’ new F1 fans only remember him for his fiery crash
Romain Grosjean isn’t bothered that for many fans, especially in the United States, his Formula 1 career is remembered for one incident alone – his fiery crash at the 2020 Bahrain Grand Prix. That Sunday, Grosjean was fortunate to escape with nothing more than a few burns and a torn ligament when his Haas VF-20 split into two and burst into flames when he speared into the guardrail at the start of the grand prix. It took the Frenchman 28 seconds to climb from the fireball that was his car, the driver then assisted by FIA medical car crew members Dr Ian Roberts and Alan van der Merwe while marshals worked to bring the blaze under control. But in a career that included 179 grand prix starts, 10 podiums and one fastest lap, that crash is what Grosjean is best remembered for. Asked if that bothered him, he told GQ : “No, I don’t care. It’s part of my career; it’s part of my life. “Especially in the U.S., because the audience is very new to Formula 1, a lot of people remember … [Read more...] about Romain Grosjean finds it ‘quite funny’ new F1 fans only remember him for his fiery crash
Juncos Hollinger shining with Ilott and rookie Canapino
Listen to this article The team is starting only its second full season of IndyCar racing, and its first with two drivers. Ilott sparkled for the team on several occasions in qualifying in 2022, culminating in a front-row start at the season finale at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. In the first day of preseason testing at Thermal Club in California – a new venue for all competitors – he finished the day seventh fastest, less than three-tenths slower than Colton Herta’s benchmark time for Andretti Autosport. “Starting off I was getting used to the circuit…Coming into the afternoon we had a couple items we needed to test and get through. It was good. “I like this place. It's a big mix of slow speed, long corners, high speed. I think not very forgiving if you do go wrong. But no one has put it in the wall yet; that's a good sign. “It was a bit of a discovery process for everyone. It's high speed. I think it's a great place to start to get us active.” Ilott said … [Read more...] about Juncos Hollinger shining with Ilott and rookie Canapino
How SUPER GT’s 2023 GT300 field is shaping up
Listen to this article K-tunes Racing, LEON Racing and Saitama Toyopet Green Brave have all announced their 2023 entries, bringing the number of confirmed entries for the upcoming season up to 13. However, there are doubts as to whether the entry list for the junior class will reach the 28 cars that made up last year's grid. As expected, K-tunes announced last weekend that Morio Nitta and Shinichi Takagi (who have a combined age of 108!) will continue for a second season together at the wheel of its Lexus RC F GT3 on Dunlop tyres. This week, Bridgestone squads LEON and Saitama Toyopet both announced unchanged programmes for 2023. Ranked! The top 10 worst F1 cars to win a grand prix
Listen to this article Most cars that win in Formula 1 are special. Why some DTM teams take crash insurance while others gamble
Listen to this article The second campaign of DTM’s GT3 era will be remembered for a number of good storylines, but one race that grabbed headlines for all the wrong reasons was the opening leg of the Hockenheim finale. While all eyes were on the title battle out front, a number of incidents were recorded lower down the grid, with videos of a high-speed crash between David Schumacher and Thomas Preining in particular being circulated widely on social media. Such was the extent of the damage from the spate of incidents that seven cars were forced out the final race the following day, with some chassis even having to be written off completely. Driving standards in DTM have come under question repeatedly in the past and teams do factor in damage costs when preparing a budget for the season. But the number of accidents in 2022 were beyond most had expected, forcing Mercedes squad GruppeM to exit the series due to what it described as “unpredictable” cost of repairs. One way … [Read more...] about Why some DTM teams take crash insurance while others gamble
