(AP) — Republicans who are seeking to lead their party in the 2024 presidential race are gathering in South Carolina this weekend with a goal at the forefront of their agenda: taking on “woke ideology.” On Saturday in North Charleston, Palmetto Family, which lobbies for what it considers to be “biblical values," is hosting Vision ’24, described by organizers as “casting the conservative vision" for the next White House race. More than 400 attendees are expected to hear from presidential hopefuls, including Nikki Haley, a former South Carolina governor who was Donald Trump's U.N. ambassador, and tech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy. Organizers expect issues such as gas prices and national security to get plenty of attention. But there also is an expectation that much of the focus will be on the pushback by some across the U.S. against what they perceive as affronts … [Read more...] about Haley, Ramaswamy among those taking on ‘woke ideology’ in SC

States cranking out even more tax cuts amid cash surpluses

She says it's time for a new generation of leaders and the best way to accomplish that is to put a "badass woman" in the White House. At the same time, Haley has underscored that she does not believe there are "glass ceilings" limiting women. She rejects identity politics as a form of divisiveness and "woke self-loathing." And she stated her belief in a speech kicking off her campaign last month that "America is not a racist country." With her underdog White House bid, Haley, 51, a former governor of South Carolina and U.N. ambassador, is the first prominent woman of color to seek the GOP nomination. As she campaigns around the country, she is at once seeking to accentuate her differences from White male candidates and offer reassurances that they are not … [Read more...] about Nikki Haley walks fine line on race, gender in appeal to GOP base
