(Asian tour x photo) CHEONAN: Thai star Jazz Janewattananond famously won the Kolon Korea Open in 2019, during his four-victory season when he topped the Asian Tour Order of Merit, but apart from that, Woo Jeong Hills Country Club, the event's regular home since 2003, has been a notoriously tough nut to crack for the best non-Koreans on the circuit. In the two editions of the Korea Open since the Asian Tour started co-sanctioning the event again in 2018, after a hiatus since 2008 and a two-year break during the Covid-19 pandemic, only six non-Korean born players have finished in the top 10, and nine inside the top 20. One of these players is Thailand's Prom Meesawat -- a proven winner in South Korea having claimed the SK Telecom Open at Sky 72 in Incheon back in 2006. Kolon Korea Open Kolon Korea Open Cheonan: Seungsu Han of the United States set the early pace in the 64th edition of the Kolon Korea Open yesterday, posting a flawless three-under-par 68 in the morning which was later matched by Korea's Lee Jung-Hwan and Hwang Jae-Min at the Woo Jeong Hills Country Club. A moderate breeze offered few favours in the morning and with rainy conditions during the afternoon and the threat of thunderstorms, the early field gained a slight advantage in the 1.35 billion won event, which is co-sanctioned by the Asian Tour and the Korea Golf Association. Lee, a two-time winner on the Korean circuit, also stayed blemish-free while Hwang capped a strong finish with three birdies in his closing six holes. Netflix’s plan to fix its subscription crisis starts in Asia
Netflix is looking to Asia after its shock first-quarter slowdown, seeking to both maintain growth in the one region where it's still adding subscribers and replicate its success there in other parts of the world. Despite plans to curb overall spending, investment in Asia will keep growing, including financing for the production of local films and series, Tony Zameczkowski, vice president of business development for Asia Pacific, said in an interview. While Netflix will continue to offer low-price, mobile-only membership across Asia, it's also seeking more partnerships with wireless operators and digital payment companies to reach more potential customers in a region where credit card use is less common, he said. The company's Asia strategy is informing moves in other emerging markets, where the platform must also grow to balance out saturation in North America and Europe.
