Ferrari’s new driver Charles Leclerc ended 2018 on top of the testing times at Abu Dhabi. Advert | Become a Supporter & go ad-free Leclerc kept Ferrari on top for the second day in a row after his new team mate Sebastian Vettel led the times yesterday. Drivers concluded two days of running on Pirelli’s new tyre selection for 2019 – which is numbered one, two, three, four and five – and its 2018 compounds for reference. Leclerc ended the test with the quickest time overall, three-tenths quicker than Vettel managed yesterday. Pierre Gasly was second-fastest on his first run for Red Bull since replacing Daniel Ricciardo. Lance Stroll spent a full day driving for Force India, who are expected to formally confirm him as Sergio Perez’s team mate for next season. Toro Rosso driver Daniil Kvyat returned to the team for the first time since being cut from their line-up last season. Haas ran test driver Louis Deletraz, who had a spin early in the session … [Read more...] about Leclerc ends 2018 F1 testing on top for Ferrari · RaceFans

Haas’s protest a legacy of F1’s missing Concorde Agreement – RaceFans

November 28, 2018 by www.racefans.net Leave a Comment

If a single 2018 incident demonstrated just how disjointed Formula 1 has become, it was the Haas versus Force India protest filed late on Thursday in Abu Dhabi. Advert | Become a Supporter & go ad-free Significantly, the protest came within F1 hours of scrutineering and ahead of the season’s final championship round. Also crucial to proceedings is that Abu Dhabi steward Garry Connelly also officiated in Belgium, where Racing Point Force India was declared a new team holding a new entrant license. Thus there was no cause to postpone or reconvene the matter at a later date, enabling both the hearing and the crucial (and expected) outcome – namely that the Force India cars were legal – to be handed ahead of FP3 on Saturday. However, Force India’s victory actually represents a defeat as we outlined here immediately after verdict. The road map of the mess F1 found itself in has been detailed in these pages since Force India plunged into administration at end-July. But … [Read more...] about Haas’s protest a legacy of F1’s missing Concorde Agreement – RaceFans

Stewards dismiss Haas’s protest against Force India · RaceFans

November 24, 2018 by www.racefans.net Leave a Comment

The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix stewards have dismissed Haas’s protest against Force India. Advert | Become a Supporter & go ad-free Haas had protested both Force India cars on the grounds the team “is not a ‘constructor’ within the meaning of such terms as set out in Article 6.3 and Appendix 6 of the 2018 Formula One Sporting Regulations and accordingly asserted that FIM is not eligible to enter such cars in the 2018 FIA Formula One World Championship.” Part of Haas’s protest rested on the argument that Racing Point Force India, which took over the team after it went into administration in August, had obtained ‘listed parts’ from Sahara Force India. Appendix six of the sporting regulations states teams may not source listed parts from competitors. However the stewards ruled Sahara Force India could not be considered a competitor at the time. “The former team was no longer a competitor in the 2018 Formula One world championship as it had as of August 16, forfeited all … [Read more...] about Stewards dismiss Haas’s protest against Force India · RaceFans

RacingLines: What is and isn’t behind F1’s share price moves – RaceFans

November 21, 2018 by www.racefans.net Leave a Comment

Last month we outlined how precariously Formula 1’s fortunes hinge upon its share price , in turn driven by factors surrounding the sport and the subsequent opinions of investment analysts. Yet, many of these have seldom – if ever – seen a grand prix live or on TV, and base their (critical) analyses on developments that profoundly affect stock value. Advert | Become a Supporter & go ad-free In a nutshell, uncertainty immediately knocks the price; positive, hard news gradually boosts it. At the time we flagged two dates: November 8th, on which F1’s commercial rights holder Liberty Media would field investor calls on Q3 earnings; and November 14th, Liberty Media’s Annual Investor Day, at which the results and prospects of group entities are presented to shareholders. F1 in particular seemed to leave the investment community distinctly lukewarm. During the investor call F1’s share prices – A Class FWONA and C Class FWONK – dipped. Steeper falls followed the call’s … [Read more...] about RacingLines: What is and isn’t behind F1’s share price moves – RaceFans

This is a carousel. Use Next and Previous buttons to navigate 3 EDITORS: EMBARGOED UNTIL SUNDAY, MARCH 19 - - - PITTSBURGH - During every Adam Sandler stand-up show, he straps on his electric guitar and sings a song. Unlike the bite-size ditties he's peppered through the set about selfies or baggy shorts, this one concerns his late, great "Saturday Night Live" buddy, Chris Farley. It is a perfect tribute. Sandler, singing softly as he strums in G, captures the complicated beauty of Farley as clips of his most memorable high jinks play on a giant screen behind him. The crowd roars as he references Farley's electrifying SNL turns as a Chippendales dancer and a motivational speaker "living in a van down by the river." There is a hush as Sandler slips into the bridge, a peek into his friend's vulnerability. "I saw him in the office, crying with his headphones on "Listening to a KC and the Sunshine Band song "I said, 'Buddy, how the hell is … [Read more...] about Adam Sandler doesn’t need your respect. Inside the movement to remake America’s city streets

This is a carousel. Use Next and Previous buttons to navigate 5 The automobile has been a fixture of urban life for more than a century. Then came the coronavirus pandemic. Congested streets turned into pedestrian safe havens. Now many want to make those changes permanent - but it won't happen without a fight. Golden Gate Park is pretty serene, as far as battlefields go. On a recent, unusually sunny afternoon, the emerald of this city's green space was alive with people moving about its main thoroughfare. Cyclists buzzed past roller skaters, who shimmied around joggers, who lapped the many pedestrians. One runner paused to play a roadside piano. A father and son rallied on a ping pong table. Dogs abounded. The one constituency not present: cars. For some, this fact explained the peace. For others, it signaled defeat. Despite its bucolic environs, Golden Gate Park has emerged as one of the most high-profile fronts in a … [Read more...] about Inside the movement to remake America’s city streets

Why Astros fans should watch Tuesday’s World Baseball Classic final

March 21, 2023 by www.chron.com Leave a Comment

The 2023 edition of the World Baseball Classic hasn't been kind to the Astros on the injury front, with an errant fastball to the hand of Jose Altuve on Saturday night forcing the star second baseman to likely miss at least two months after undergoing thumb surgery . But the unfortunate incident shouldn't deter Houston fans from tuning in to Tuesday's WBC final between the United States and Japan. In baseball's greatest international event, a pair of Astros could shine Tuesday in an event akin to MLB's annual Fall Classic. It's been an impressive World Baseball Classic for the two Astros players on Team USA. Closer Ryan Pressly continues to assert himself as one of baseball's best relievers , following a dominant 2022 postseason with two WBC saves in three scoreless innings . After delivering the final out of the 2022 World Series, Pressly could very well once again be at the center of a championship celebration Tuesday night. 2024 BMW 4 Series Convertible Spied Hiding Modest Mid-Cycle Refresh

March 21, 2023 by www.motor1.com Leave a Comment

The current-generation BMW 4 Series debuted in 2020. The automaker revamped the model’s interior earlier this year, but it’s not the only change it’s making to the car. New spy photos show BMW will give the 4 Series convertible an updated design that tweaks the front and rear fascias. The new pics arrived just days after our photographers captured the redesigned coupe out testing. The entire lineup will receive the same overall styling updates. The model will get tweaked headlight and taillight designs, and there could be other changes hiding underneath the camouflage that we can’t see. Think massaged bumpers and fresh accents. However, the convertible looks very similar to the model on sale today, so don’t expect any revolutionary changes. Gallery: 2024 BMW 4 Series Convertible Spy Photos 27 Photos The photos actually captured two 4 Series trims. Could Pirelli have a new rival? FIA launch tyre supplier tender from F1 2025 season

March 21, 2023 by www.planetf1.com Leave a Comment

Formula 1 could soon have a new tyre supplier after the FIA opened the process to bidders for the 2025 season onwards. While tyre wars in Formula 1 used to be commonplace, they became a thing of the past when Bridgestone first became the exclusive provider and the sport has since only leaned on one company for its tyre needs. In 2011, that company became Pirelli who continue to supply tyres until this day but their monopoly on the sport’s rubber could soon change with the FIA opening the door for another manufacturer to come in. Following the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, the FIA announced it was seeking potential suppliers for the 2025 season onwards in a deal that could last for four seasons. The successful applicant will also gain the contract for the Formula 2 and Formula 3 championships. The brief is not too dissimilar from the current contract with the F1 tyres set to remain at 18 inches but, in line with the sport’s push for more sustainability, the successful candidates … [Read more...] about Could Pirelli have a new rival?
