When it comes to safety, any vehicle intended to transport families should be a proverbial fortress on wheels, minivans especially. With that in mind, Kia’s stylish and sophisticated Sedona minivan gets to add yet another trophy to its crowded shelf of safety accolades for the 2018 model year. For 2018, the handsome Sedona passed all of the IIHS’s safety evaluations, including earning a Good rating in the stringent headlights category. So, why was it only named a Top Safety Pick and not a Top Safety Pick+? This isn’t to say the Sedona isn’t a safe car because it is. While the Sedona did garner Good ratings in five crashworthiness tests, earned a Superior rating in the crash avoidance and mitigation test and scored a Good headlights rating, there was one box missing from the IIHS safety check sheet. To be named a Top Safety Pick+ by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, a vehicle must also earn either a Good or Acceptable rating in the … [Read more...] about For fourth consecutive year, IIHS awards 2018 Kia Sedona with Top Safety Pick designation

While the all-new K900 stole the show during last week’s New York Auto Show, two extra surprises arrived at Kia’s booth on the showroom floor. Minivans have been dusted in the marketplace by SUVs, but they still offer as much passenger and cargo space (or more). Kia is among the manufacturers of minivans still left standing, and it got an early start on the 2019 model year with a refreshed Sedona at the 2018 New York International Auto Show. A new eight-speed automatic transmission is expected to improve fuel economy, but how does the current six-speed automatic fare? And what kind of fare are you going to pay to fill it up? With a 21.1-gallon fuel tank, filling a Sedona from empty would cost around $55 based on the national average of $2.65 for regular gasoline, as posted early Thursday on the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report. In California, where the average price of regular was $3.49, and Hawaii, where it was … [Read more...] about What Does It Cost to Fill Up a 2018 Kia Sedona?

LED headlamps are standard on SX and SXL trims and around back, the rear combination lamps – with a new graphic – complete the liftgate’s restyled chrome garnish. The newly-designed 17-, 18-, and 19-inch wheels vary based on trim. Getting in is easy with the power-sliding doors and, once inside, there are lots of tech features. At the 2018 New York International Auto Show today, Kia Motors America (KMA) unveiled the refreshed 2019 Sedona, revealing a more refined minivan that maintains the same functional convenience with ample passenger space and cargo, albeit with more style, technology, and amenities. Wearing newly designed front and rear fascias, the Sedona now sports a similar design language utilized on some of the newer models in Kia’s lineup, while a new available rear-seat entertainment system along with other convenience features keep the Sedona’s tech roster up-to-date. In addition, the Sedona’s tried and true 3.3-liter V6 can now be paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. “While the Sedona has continued to redefine and revolutionize the minivan segment with its bold design, advanced convenience features and upscale cabin, a subtle facelift and extended tech roster help keep our most functional multi-purpose vehicle fresh and relevant,” said Orth Hedrick, … [Read more...] about Refreshed Kia Sedona Showcased at NY Autoshow
