The Kia Carnival has received the green signal for India, as per a fresh report from Autocar India. It was on display in the country at Auto Expo 2018.Kia is adopting a top-down approach for its India entry, and its line-up in the early years will include a mix of locally manufactured models and locally assembled imports. The latter will include the Carnival minivan, also known as the Grand Carnival and Sedona in some markets. Sun Wook Hwang, Senior General Manager, Market and PR, Kia Motors India, has confirmed this development.The Kia Carnival is available in three-row and four-row versions, with seats for 7, 8 or 11 people depending on the version selected. India will get the three-row version with 7 seats. According to Team-BHP, Kia Motors have signed letters of intent with nearly 50 dealers in India and plans to have 100 dealers by July 2019. Further, the forum states that a few dealers roped by Kia India are also dealers for luxury car brands like Mercedes Benz and BMW.Kia's first product for India will be a mid-size SUV that will rival the Tata Harrier, Hyundai Creta and Jeep Compass. The SUV, previewed by the Kia SP Concept at this year's Auto Expo, will reportedly be named Kia Tusker. It will be based on an updated version of the Creta's platform, reportedly, offering Hyundai-Kia's new 1.5-liter petrol and diesel engines adhering to BS6 emission standards.The 1.5-liter diesel engine is reported to develop 115 hp and 250 Nm of torque, and will later find its way to the Hyundai Verna facelift and next-generation Creta. The Toyota Rush is a popular SUV in the Indonesian markets as the company has sold over 2.5 lakh units there. And now Toyota is all set to launch the SUV in Pakistan by the end of this month. Indus Motor Company Limited, that operates as Toyota Indus, a joint venture between House of Habib, Toyota Tsusho and Toyota Motors, will be importing the first batch of Rush SUVs into Pakistan. The company believes that the pricing and the positioning of the Toyota Rush SUV will help the brand bridge the gap between the Corolla sedan and premium Fortuner SUV. Kia Motors will launch its first product in India next year. Within two years of its first launch, the company plans to roll out electrified vehicles. The company is already considering locally produced hybrids and electric vehicles for our market, Kia India CEO and MD Kook Hyun Shim told PTI recently.Kia already has hybrid vehicles in its global line-up. These include mild-hybrids, full-hybrids and plug-in hybrids. The South Korean automaker’s pure electric range includes the Kia Soul EV and Kia Niro EV. South Korean automaker Kia is evaluating two new cars for the Indian market – the Stonic compact SUV and the Grand Carnival MPV. Kia, which is part owned by Hyundai, has already started constructing a factory in Andhra Pradesh, and the first vehicle – a Creta rivaling compact SUV – will be launched in India next year. The Creta challenger from Kia will be based on the SP Design concept, which was shown at the 2018 Indian Auto Expo. The sharply styled SP Design SUV will be toned down slightly for production.
