Jaguar’s women are celebrating International Women’s Day by showcasing automotive industry careers in a new video. The video, called #SheDidIt, stars some of the female employees who design, manufacture, test and sell our cars. Creating a workforce as diverse as our customers will help Jaguar deliver the cars women want. The women of #SheDidIt tell a full female story of Jaguar vehicles, from clay modeller Shamaila Khan’s design work right through to customer Jess Monks, who loves her Jaguar F-PACE performance SUV. LOS ANGELES — Like all other automakers, Jaguar Land Rover faces the challenge of helping its dealerships hire enough service technicians amid an industrywide shortage. JLR is recruiting and training U.S. military veterans, a pool of often overlooked technical talent, to fill open positions. "There are a lot of skills veterans learn in the military that are transferable to automotive technician careers," says Michael Morgan, manager of technical and body training programs for Jaguar Land Rover North America.Launched in 2016, the Jaguar Land Rover Veteran Careers Program has placed more than 280 veterans from all military branches at the luxury automaker's 205 U.S. retail outlets. Louisville, Kentucky, native Laura Schwab had no idea she would launch herself into a successful career in the automotive industry when she quit working as a lawyer to join a startup in Southern California focused on car-configuration technology, but life has a funny way of working itself out.
