These two Jeeps are beach-body ready. Although some parts of the country are still covered in snow and others battling bitter cold, Spring Break is right around the corner. That's why earlier this week, Jeep reintroduced its tropical Islander moniker – first used in 1988 – for special versions of the Renegade and Wrangler . The two Jeeps wear custom paint, sport special features, and are ready to hit the beach, weather permitting. The Wrangler uses the Sport S trim as its base (both two- and four-door models) and comes with Islander-specific exterior cues like 17-inch Rubicon wheels, a "Tiki Bob" hood decal, and a white three-piece hardtop roof. Plus buyers get the choice of ten paint options, like the Chief Blue pictured here, or other fun shades like Snazzberry, Firecracker Red, and Hellayella. Inside, the Wrangler Islander sports cloth black seats with a Ceramic White mid-bolster and an embroidered Islander logo with Surf Blue accent stitching. Crehan makes Superbikes TV switch
The experienced pit reporter split with Supercars Media late last year, ahead of a new broadcast deal for the touring car series. She's now set to spend 2021 covering two-wheel motor racing, Crehan joining the ASBK TV team alongside Steve Martin, Phil Harlum and Mark Bracks.“I’m thrilled to be joining the ASBK team in 2021,” said Crehan. “For the last 10 or so years I’ve been involved in motorsport, mostly running up and down the pitlane with the Supercars, but now it’s time to have some fun with two wheels and the ASBK paddock. Rea and Kawasaki have had a stranglehold on WSBK since 2015, with Rea winning the title for the past three seasons, and currently leads the 2018 standings by 92 points. The Ulsterman was linked to a move to Suzuki in place of Andrea Iannone last season, and said earlier this season he was evaluating options in MotoGP for '19 - though he ultimately penned a new two-year deal to remain with KRT.BT Sport pundit Hodgson – who unsuccessfully moved to MotoGP following his 2003 WSBK title win – believes Rea would have to settle for riding for a “B-team” if he were to go to MotoGP, and his reluctance to do so means his rivals are not even considered for grand prix rides. He told Motorsport.com: “If you’re Jonathan Rea, you have to take potentially a B-ride [in MotoGP], not a full factory team, to earn less money doing more races, thinking, ‘if I do well this weekend, I can be fifth, or seventh’. “Or he can stay where he is, earn more money … [Read more...] about Rea has created “block” in WSBK-to-MotoGP path
Ducati schedules in-season Jerez test for after Qatar
The Italian manufacturer will complete a two-day test at the Spanish Grand Prix venue between the Qatar race and MotoGP’s trip to the Americas for the events in Argentina and the United States. However, to preserve its allocation of five test days per year with race riders, it will only use test rider Michele Pirro on the first day.Lorenzo and Dovizioso will then take over for the second day, Ducati sporting director Paolo Ciabatti confirmed to Motorsport.com. Ducati has traditionally been competitive in Qatar, and relatively strong at Termas de Rio Hondo and Austin, but has struggled at the low-grip Jerez, the first European race on the calendar on May 7. The additional test comes at a time where Ducati is looking to improve the turning characteristics of its Desmosedici GP17, as well as get new recruit Lorenzo up to speed after two troubled tests at Sepang and Phillip Island.
