Jimmie Johnson’s Carvana IndyCar livery unveiled

· February 23, 2021 ·

Carvana, a giant in the auto retail industry, will back the seven-time NASCAR Cup champion as he tackles the 13 road and street courses on the 17-race 2021 NTT IndyCar Series trail. Johnson, who scored 83 wins in Cup competition, will carry Carvana’s signature halo and blue on the #48, which will be driven by 2004 IndyCar champion and 2013 Indy 500 winner Tony Kanaan in the four oval races. Said Johnson: "I'm really excited about this paint scheme, and over the last few years of my career I've found myself much more involved with the look of the cars that I drive. I was very thankful Carvana gave me the opportunity to be involved in the design process of my very first Indy car. “The collaboration between myself, Chip Ganassi Racing, Carvana and the design group was a lot of fun – we came up with many, many good ideas. So, I'm very excited about our primary paint scheme and also excited about some opportunities we might have in the future to mix things up and keep things … [Read more...] about Jimmie Johnson’s Carvana IndyCar livery unveiled

The best IndyCar colorschemes from McLaren and Schmidt Peterson

· February 26, 2021 ·

Well, the classic McLaren papaya orange had to be featured, didn't it? Here's Johnny Rutherford the day after winning the 1974 Indianapolis 500. Photo by: Indianapolis Motor Speedway Rutherford's M16 carried Gatorade sponsorship in ’75 and unfortunately 'only' finished second. The following year, he was back in orange... and back in Victory Lane. Photo by: IndyCar The minimalist colorscheme of 1977 and ’78 suited Rutherford's McLaren M24 with its long, low sidepods. Photo by: Bill Murenbeeld / Motorsport Images The 1979 Budweiser scheme is shown here at Atlanta Raceway where Rutherford won both races in a double-header. They were the most recent McLaren Indy car victories – but we predict they won't be the last... Photo by: Motorsports Hall of Fame of America Indy Racing League cars aren't to everyone's taste but we reckon Richie Hearn's Sam Schmidt Motorsport Dallara-Chevrolet from 2002 is enhanced by this silver-and-red scheme. Arrow McLaren SP reveals dual liveries for 2021 IndyCar season

· February 26, 2021 ·

O’Ward, who completed his first full IndyCar season in 2020 and finished fourth in the championship, will run an updated version of the orange-and-black livery seen on both full-season cars last year, with team partner Arrow prominent on the black sidepods. However, the #7 car of new arrival Rosenqvist – entering his third IndyCar season and now with a win to his name – will run blue on the sidepods, in front of the cockpit and the front wings, with Vuse (digital vapor e-cigarettes) as the prominent sponsor. Last year, the #7 and #5 were distinguishable just by the former’s blue wing endplates. Speaking ahead of the public launch Friday morning, Rosenqvist said: “I think both cars look amazing – although I obviously think my one looks the best. “I really like how they kept it clean and pretty similar to last year but now you can separate the two cars. That’s something that the fans asked for and it’s also easier for our spotters, to relate to a specific car.” … [Read more...] about Arrow McLaren SP reveals dual liveries for 2021 IndyCar season
