Ron DeSantis. It said he was suspended from his job. Stunned, Warren quickly went to his office to consult with his staff. Not long after, there was a knock at the door. An armed major from the county sheriff's office and a man in a suit from the governor's office carrying a copy of DeSantis' executive order suspending him were looking for him. "He said, essentially, 'The governor has suspended you and you need to leave the office now,'" Warren, a Democrat, recalled of DeSantis' aide. "So within maybe seven minutes from getting the email, I was outside, on the street. The major offered me a ride home because they … [Read more...] about A progressive prosecutor clashed with DeSantis – now he’s out of a job

Stoffel Vandoorne has said he “left nothing on the table” en route to winning the Formula E World Championship this year. Franz Tost feels Charles Leclerc is ‘two tenths faster’ than Carlos Sainz
Charles Leclerc is essentially a faster driver than Carlos Sainz judged on raw speed, according to Franz Tost. The AlphaTauri team principal has only worked with one of the two Ferrari racers, that being Sainz, but appears adamant about his opinion. With the 66-year-old Austrian having been the Red Bull sister team’s boss since 2005 following the buyout of Minardi, he oversaw Sainz’s introduction to Formula 1 in 2015 alongside Max Verstappen in an all-rookie line-up. After nearly three seasons with Toro Rosso, the Spaniard joined Renault in October 2017, moved to McLaren for the 2019 campaign and then Ferrari as Leclerc’s team-mate in 2021. Despite finishing 5.5 points above Leclerc in last season’s Drivers’ standings, Sainz has largely had to play second fiddle to the Monegasque this term and currently trails him by 22 points and three race wins to one. In addition, Leclerc can feel as though he has missed out on dozens of points – potentially even another six … [Read more...] about Franz Tost feels Charles Leclerc is ‘two tenths faster’ than Carlos Sainz

The Liberia-flagged Brave Commander departed from the Ukrainian port of Yuzhne, east of Odesa, according to regional governor Maksym Marchenko. It plans to sail to Djibouti, where the grain will be unloaded and transferred to Ethiopia under the World Food Program initiative. Jean Alesi: Ferrari ‘only missing little things’ and ‘need more time’
Former Ferrari racer Jean Alesi has called for patience with the Scuderia, saying Mattia Binotto needs time to build a winning team. Alesi has become the latest voice to call for calm regarding Ferrari, as the Scuderia’s troubled 2022 has seen the team crumble away from an early championship lead. Last week, former team boss Cesare Fiorio showed his support for Mattia Binotto as Ferrari have become race winners again after failing to win anything in 2020 and ’21. At the beginning of F1’s revolutionary new ruleset, Ferrari sprung back to the front of the sport as Charles Leclerc won two of the first three races. This netted him a 46-point lead over Max Verstappen, whose Red Bull retired from the same two races. However, through various mistakes and reliability issues, Leclerc now trails Verstappen by 80 points in the Drivers’ Championship. Ferrari, too, have fallen away in the Constructors’ Championship. Now trailing Red Bull by 97 points , they are just 30 points … [Read more...] about Jean Alesi: Ferrari ‘only missing little things’ and ‘need more time’
BTCC Snetterton: Turkington dominates opener from Hill
Listen to this article Turkington led teammate Jake Hill all the way, via two safety cars, to head a 1-2 for the West Surrey Racing-run BMW 330e M Sport squad. In scorching conditions, Turkington led the field, and had just extended his advantage over Hill to over one second when the safety car was called for the first time on lap five, with the Power Maxed Racing Vauxhall Astra of Michael Crees in a vulnerable position on the exit of the Hamilton left-hander. Turkington, who as points leader was allowed just one lap of hybrid usage, got an excellent restart, but Hill (allowed four laps of hybrid) reeled the Northern Irishman in, and was applying serious pressure when the safety car appeared again. This time it was the Laser Tools Racing Infiniti Q50 of Aiden Moffat in trouble, the Scot getting pitched into the barriers at Riches after contact with the troubled Josh Cook’s BTC Racing Honda. The restart came with three laps of green-flag racing remaining, and … [Read more...] about BTCC Snetterton: Turkington dominates opener from Hill
To save their home, an Indigenous community turns to the skies
This is a carousel. Use Next and Previous buttons to navigate 5 For centuries, the Philippine eagle and hawk eagle have shared this remote rainforest with the Dumagat, an Indigenous people who call the slopes of the Sierra Madre mountains in the northern Philippines their home. Together, they survived Spanish colonialism and American imperialism and the impinging development of the modern Philippines. But in recent years the raptors have become perilously scarce. Fewer than 600 mature Philippine hawk eagles are left in the wild, according to the International Union for the Conservation of Nature's Red List, which considers the bird to be endangered. The Dumagat also fear that their way of life may be endangered. The government is building a new highway through the Dumagat's domain, threatening to disrupt their traditional communities with unregulated tourism, soaring real estate prices and ecological degradation. But the eagles could … [Read more...] about To save their home, an Indigenous community turns to the skies
