Top drivers aiming for $10,000 prize on September 16 (From track press release) WEST HAVEN — A star-studded roster of dirt track Modified stock car drivers is getting ready for the Interstate All Battery Center Vermont 200 at Devil’s Bowl Speedway on Sunday, September 16. The first-of-its-kind race for crate engine Sportsman Modifieds has drawn interest from no less than nine United States and two Canadian provinces, and as many as 70 or more drivers are expected to enter on race day. Qualifying begins on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. with time trials, heat races, and consolation rounds. The 200-lap feature event will see a starting field of up to 34 cars gunning for the $10,000 top prize, and two B-mains will each pay $500 to win for non-qualified cars. Bell's Brewery of the Kalamazoo area and Founders Brewing Co. of Grand Rapids, the state's two largest breweries, were announced Thursday as the top two by the American Homebrewers Association. In the same announcement, the association named Bell's Two Hearted Ale (7% alcohol by volume) IPA the No. 1 beer in the United States. Historic $10,000-to-win Sportsman Modified “Vermont 200” headlines 19-race calendar (From track press releases) WEST HAVEN – Vermont’s Devil’s Bowl Speedway has unveiled its highly anticipated 2018 stock car racing schedule, sparkling with a mix of 19 exciting weekly and special events. The Rutland County track, in its 52nd season, will return to full-time dirt racing on a half-mile surface for the first time since 2009, and competition will again be sanctioned by the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series. The biggest event in Devil’s Bowl Speedway history will be held on the weekend of September 15-16, with a race format never attempted before at any track: The “Vermont 200” for Sportsman Modifieds.
