Hyundai has rolled out a full-size SUV concept that previews a new model heading to showrooms next year. Called the Grandmaster, the concept made its debut at the 2018 Busan auto show and features Hyundai's newest design idiom. Kia used the Busan show to present the electric version of its Niro compact crossover SUV. Called the Niro EV, the newest electric car has a 201-horsepower output and claimed 280 miles of range. Proposed changes to the regulations for the World Endurance Championship could see the top class feature race cars designed to resemble the current crop of hypercars such as Aston Martin's Valkyrie. It could lead to race cars like the GT1-spec cars that competed last decade in the FIA GT Championship, such as the McLaren F1 GTR and Porsche 911 GT1. You'll find these stories and more in today's car news, right here at Motor Authority. The facelifted, 2018 Hyundai Tucson has surfaced in South Korea, where it’s been spotted uncamouflaged. The SUV will soon be launched in India, as a fresher alternative to the best selling Jeep Compass. The Jeep Compass is the Tucson’s prime competitor in India, and it outselling the latter many times over thanks to sharp pricing. Hyundai assembles the Tucson through the CKD route in India while the Compass is produced here with over 70 % localization, giving the Jeep SUV a significant price advantage. The only way Hyundai can compete with the Jeep is by building the Tucson in India, and pricing it similar to the Compass. Coming to the changes on the facelifted Tucson, the SUV now gets the cascading grille that’s soon becoming the family face of Hyundai SUVs. Other changes on the front include a new bumper, sharper headlamps with LEDs, and new DRLs. The sides of the SUV remain unchanged save for the new alloy wheel design. At the rear, a new tailgate, bumper and tail … [Read more...] about Facelifted, 2018 Hyundai Tucson SUV: This is IT!
2019 Hyundai Santa FE Redesign, Price, Specs – This new Santa Fe effectively replaces the outgoing Santa Fe Sport. The wheelbase Hoy, Santa Fe, will continue for another year, to be called Santa Fe XL, until a new SUV with three rows with a new name starts for the 2020 model year. With the new Kona fuel cell, it will also be a new Tucson crossover step smaller than Kona 2021. If you count it is six new Hyundai SUVs or redesigned in two fewer years. Hyundai is on a good track. To begin with, the new ute seems more mature and beautiful. The rear window is more vertical, a margin of advantage for the optional seats in the third row (below) and the cargo space. With shorter overhangs, a longer wheelbase, longer length and a little more circumference than the Santa Fe Sport, the interior space is also up. Hyundai has increased its visibility by using 41% more glass area than the outgoing Santa Fe Sport to feed target markets for empty nests and families moving from a sedan. 2019 … [Read more...] about 2019 Hyundai Santa FE Redesign, Price, Specs
It’s no secret now that Hyundai is working on an even larger SUV than the Santa Fe, and it will reportedly feature three-row seating that accommodates up to eight individuals, the driver included. The Korean automaker recently trademarked the name “Palisade”, which means a “strong fence made out of wooden or iron poles that is used to protect people or a place from being attacked,” so there’s a possibility that it will be christened with the name. Our European spy photographers managed to capture a heavily cladded prototype out in the open, but really, little is known about the large Hyundai SUV. Reports have said that it could be underpinned by a new platform that will be shared with the production version of the Kia Telluride concept, which is also a three-row SUV. Apparently, a US introduction is confirmed, but there’s no word yet on a European launch. For engines, speculations revolve largely around V6 petrol motors, but exactly what … [Read more...] about SPIED: Hyundai eight-seat SUV spotted winter testing
Hot on the heels of learning that Hyundai’s full-size SUV could be dubbed Palisade, our spy photographers have snapped a camouflaged prototype during testing. Whatever it ends up being called, the full-size Hyundai SUV will use the same platform as the upcoming Kia Telluride. Consequently, it should be sold with front-wheel drive as standard and be offered with all-wheel drive as an option. The vast majority of variants are bound to use a V6 engine but a number of electrified offerings are inevitable. After all, Hyundai intends on launching 15 electrified models by 2020, including hybrids, plug-in hybrids, battery-electric, and fuel-cell vehicles. The Kia Telluride should be offered with largely the same powertrain options as the Hyundai. As the latest-generation Hyundai Santa Fe is no longer sold with seven-seats, the full-size SUV will essentially act as a replacement to that model. However, it will take things one step further and provide seating for eight occupants. Santa Fe … [Read more...] about 2020 Hyundai Palisade Full-Size SUV To Be Offered As An 8-Seat Hybrid
Based on previous spyshots, we know Hyundai is developing an SUV with up to eight seats that will be positioned above the Santa Fe. While the model has yet to be named (or even shown in concept form), the big SUV may be called the ‘Palisade’ after the carmaker trademarked the name with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Referring to a dictionary, the name is defined as “a strong fence made out of wooden or iron poles that is used to protect people or a place from being attacked.” Does that sound like a good fit for a large, three-row SUV model? Little is known about the Hyundai SUV, but reports indicate it will be underpinned by the same platform used for the production version of the Kia Telluride concept, also a three-row SUV. A range of petrol powertrains with and without all-wheel drive is another likelihood. Design-wise, mules indicate the Palisade shares a lot in common with the latest Santa Fe and Kona, with a large front grille and slender … [Read more...] about Hyundai eight-seat SUV to be called the Palisade?
We travelled to Frankfurt, where Hyundai Europe has its Headquarters to take a closer look on the 2016 Hyundai Tucson, a car that according to the the South Korean carmaker, is the new brand ambassador for Europe. Hyundai has revealed the 2019 Santa Fe at the Geneva Motor Show ahead of its European launch later this year. The Santa Fe now wears a sharper design theme that is inspired by the Kona compact SUV that debuted last year. This design, comprising of the cascading grille and the vertically stacked split headlamps, is now going mainstream for all Hyundai SUVs (as seen on the Kona, Nexo and Santa Fe) and will soon been seen on the upcoming all-new Tucson as well. Hyundai is also said to be working on a SUV larger than the Santa Fe and it will be around the same size as the Kia Telluride Concept from 2016. The 2019 Santa Fe comes with three engine options - a 2.4l, 185PS four-cylinder petrol; a 2.0l, 232PS, turbocharged four-cylinder petrol; and a 2.2l, 200PS, four-cylinder turbo-diesel. All the engines come standard with an eight-speed gearbox and all-wheel-drive. The Santa Fe seen here will be available in five and seven seater (Santa Fe XL) configurations. The cabin has a minimalist … [Read more...] about Geneva Motor Show 2018: 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe breaks cover
Our spies have spotted a new Hyundai SUV currently in development, which will slot in above the Santa Fe. Barring official details, the new model you see here will likely offer seating for up to eight people, one more than the Santa Fe that comes in five- and seven-seat configurations. As the images show, the unnamed Hyundai SUV will be a pretty sizeable thing, and is designed with inspiration from recent models like the Santa Fe and Kona. Despite the camouflage, slender-looking headlights can be seen flanking what is likely a trapezoidal-shaped grille with wavy-patterned mesh. The covers and fake body panels present on the mule make it hard to tell how the rear will look, but it should look relatively blocky in order to cater for rearmost passenger and cargo space. Under the bonnet, the large SUV will likely feature a turbocharged petrol engine in order to shift all that heft. Hyundai has already confirmed that a new full-size SUV larger than the SUV will be introduced in the United … [Read more...] about SPYSHOTS: Hyundai eight-seat SUV spotted testing
The 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe has finally made its world debut in Goyang city, Seoul. The fourth-generation SUV, according to the company, is packed with the latest high-tech features and will go into production from the second quarter of 2018, with sales to follow after. Design-wise, the Santa Fe takes after the Kona, sporting slim LED daytime running lights (Hyundai’s new identity for its SUVs) and a large Cascading Grille. The main beams are LED (projector units) and are built below the DRLs. The Santa Fe’s profile is highlighted by a strong shoulder line that stretches from the headlights to the taillights, and the near-flat roofline gives off a familiar silhouette as its predecessor. The upswept window line is retained, but executed with more finesse this time around. At the back, it gets a pair of LED tail lights with unique checkered C-shaped graphics, and the more rounded rump does a fine job in masking the car’s bulk. The SUV measures 4,770 mm long, 1,890 mm … [Read more...] about 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe – 4th-gen SUV debuts in Korea with 2.0 turbo petrol, 2.2 turbodiesel and 8-speed auto
