How long does fake tan last
Ski resorts can now make fake snow in 80 degrees. Here’s why that’s a problem.
This is a carousel. Use Next and Previous buttons to navigate 8 A lack of snow and abnormally mild temperatures are threatening ski resorts in the eastern United States, Europe and Asia. As natural snow becomes scarcer and temperatures creep too high for traditional snow machines, new technology is helping a growing number of ski areas adapt to the warming climate. These new snow machines can make fake snow in temperatures as high as 80 degrees. But there are limitations that may keep this human-made snow from being a true solution. The costly machines require an enormous amount of energy to operate - much more than traditional ones - and can often make only enough snow to cover small areas. Still, more companies in the United States, Canada and Europe are using the machines to fill slopes during warm winter spells. Winter resorts that have purchased the machines say that when snowfall spells are mild, as they have … [Read more...] about Ski resorts can now make fake snow in 80 degrees. De Vries admits he didn’t always cope with pressure during his long journey to F1 · RaceFans
Nyck de Vries , who will make his debut as a full-time Formula 1 driver with AlphaTauri this year, says he almost gave up on his dream of reaching the series during his climb through the lower categories – and suffered from the pressure to deliver at times. Advert | Become a Supporter & go ad-free Seven years ago a disappointing season in GP3 threatened to thwart De Vries’ attempts to reach F1. Although he eventually secured a seat in Formula 2, he faced further setbacks in his second year in the category when he joined the reigning champions. De Vries arrives in F1 this season four years after taking the F2 title, having also raced successfully in Formula E, where he won the 2020-21 championship. However it means he faces the unusual situation of making his F1 debut while being older than more than half of the rivals he will go up against in Bahrain next month. “I’m one of the older guys, so I’ve walked quite a long journey to get here,” he said in an interview … [Read more...] about De Vries admits he didn’t always cope with pressure during his long journey to F1 · RaceFans
Lando Norris explains why he agreed a long-term contract with McLaren
Having previously confirmed he had spoken with rival teams before re-signing with McLaren, Lando Norris says he’ll do it again when his current contract expires in 2025. Norris arrived on the Formula 1 grid in 2019, the Briton signing with McLaren but not before speaking with Red Bull Racing. That, though, wasn’t the last time he held informal talks with Christian Horner, doing so again before putting pen to paper on a new deal in early 2022. His latest contract runs through to 2025, Norris signing it before even seeing the new cars in action which raised a few eyebrows . “It was surprising that he signed such a long contract at the start of his career,” former F1 driver turned pundit Jenson Button Sky Sports F1. “We all want to be team players but you never know where the team is going to be in three years.” Norris has defended his decision, saying he wanted to avoid the need to have conversations with rival teams as all the drivers do before signing a contract. … [Read more...] about Lando Norris explains why he agreed a long-term contract with McLaren
In Texas’ first post-Roe legislative session, there’s a new political power dynamic on abortion
For decades, the abortion battle lines in the Texas Legislature were as clearly drawn as they were deeply entrenched. Every two years, Republicans would try to find new and novel ways to outwit Roe v. Wade, while Democrats relied on the courts as a bulwark against further restrictions. But now, the deed is done, the war is won and abortion is almost entirely banned in Texas. The number of monthly legal abortions in the state has dwindled into the low single digits. In overturning Roe v. Wade, the U.S. Supreme Court not only undid the constitutional protection for abortion. It also made irrelevant many of Texas’ most contentious political scuffles of the past half-century, forcing both sides to revisit their time-honored legislative strategies. This session, Democrats are the ones stoking outrage and trying to circumvent the courts, while many Republicans are hoping to sidestep the issue entirely, focusing instead on property taxes, education issues and anti-LGBTQ efforts. … [Read more...] about In Texas’ first post-Roe legislative session, there’s a new political power dynamic on abortion

Use Next and Previous buttons to navigate 29 LOS ANGELES (AP) — Those killed by a gunman who opened fire at a Los Angeles-area dance hall are being remembered by friends and family for the zest for life that brought them out that night to celebrate the Lunar New Year. Eleven people were killed when a gunman opened fire on Saturday night at the Star Ballroom Dance Studio, a dance hall in Monterey Park that is popular with older Asian Americans. “It’s always happy, people just come and have fun, they just love dancing,” Peter Phung, a singer who has performed there and frequently stopped by to sing karaoke as well, told The Associated Press on Thursday. Following the attack, the gunman went to another nearby ballroom but was disarmed before anyone was shot. Senators on both sides accuse Ticketmaster of misusing its power
Senators from both sides of the aisle during a Tuesday hearing accused Ticketmaster parent Live Nation Entertainment of using monopoly power to dominate the ticketing and live events industry, as lawmakers grilled a top company executive who fiercely denied the assertion. "This whole concert ticket system is a mess - it's a monopolistic mess," said Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), calling Live Nation an "800 pound gorilla" that has "clear dominance, monopolistic control." Over nearly three hours, Senate Judiciary Committee members questioned industry experts and executives - including Joe Berchtold, president and chief financial officer of Live Nation - about whether a 2010 merger between Live Nation and Ticketmaster allowed the company to unfairly grow its market share, and whether that dominance is hurting artists and consumers. The hearing comes a few months after the issue took center stage during a mad rush for Taylor Swift tickets late last year that resulted in scores of … [Read more...] about Senators on both sides accuse Ticketmaster of misusing its power
The rise and fall of the Chrisleys, the latest reality stars to go to prison
Reality TV star Todd Chrisley wanted to be clear: When his former business partner Mark Braddock testified in court last year that he and Chrisley once had an intimate relationship, Chrisley wasn't taken aback because Braddock is a man. He has never cared about the (rampant, nonstop) rumors that he's gay; he has said he finds the speculation flattering. No - he was offended because he thinks Braddock is ugly. "I mean, a toad. I mean, someone that looks like a thumb," Chrisley, 53, said on his podcast several weeks ago in conversation with his 26-year-old son, Chase. Chrisley was also insulted that Braddock, who is married to a woman, characterized the alleged relationship as "just something he wanted to try." "I ain't that small spoon you get at Baskin-Robbins," Chrisley added. "I'm the whole scoop. You don't just get to sample here." "You're the whole damn scoop," Chase echoed, laughing. Viewers familiar with "Chrisley Knows Best," USA Network's extremely popular reality show … [Read more...] about The rise and fall of the Chrisleys, the latest reality stars to go to prison
