Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd has put up a teaser site for the new Honda Civic FB, and it features a count-down that’s currently about 10 days and 14 hours right now. That would be next next Thursday. The Honda Civic FB teaser site mentions a web movie, so I’m not sure if it’s the launch of the web movie or the car itself, but it’s probably both. We expect both the 1.8 and 2.0 litre models to be offered – for our first impressions of the car read our story: DRIVEN: 2012 Honda Civic FB (9th Gen) previewed in Thailand. … [Read more...] about Honda Civic FB Malaysian teaser goes online

[Read more...] about GALERI: Honda Civic – gen-10 FC vs gen-9 FB
[Read more...] about Honda Civic generasi ke-10 membuat penampilan pertamanya di Malaysia sebelum dilancarkan
The new 2016 Honda Civic will be in Malaysian showrooms on June 11, 11am to 4pm, according to a customer invite sent to readers Muhammad Hamidie and Calvin Tey by their Honda SAs, and forwarded to us. “The dream ride has arrived,” the e-invite proclaims, touting “exciting features you have only dreamed of, brought to life.” The new Civic made its first official Malaysian appearance at the recent My Auto Fest 2016 event, and we’ve spotted in on the road during ad filming, but this is the opportunity for all and sundry to get up close and personal with the all-new FC. We’ve already done so, and you can check out our test drive report of the new Civic from Thailand, as well as a New vs Old gallery with the FC butt-to-butt with the ninth-gen FB. Some eager dealers have also detailed the variants and specifications for the Malaysian-spec CKD Civic, which differs slightly from the Thai-spec car. We’re set to get three variants of the new Civic, one … [Read more...] about New Honda Civic in M’sian dealerships from June 11
As promised, Honda Malaysia is previewing the 2016 Honda Civic at My Auto Fest 2016. The tenth-generation C-segment contender made its public debut here in Malaysia today, appearing in its local specification form. The radically-styled fastback sedan is shown in top-spec Turbo guise, equipped with full-LED headlights, LED fog lights and 17-inch two-tone alloy wheels; it’s also clad in the new, dark silver hero colour called Lunar Silver Metallic, which we spotted on an undisguised car last weekend. Unlike the Thai-market RS though, we won’t be getting a gloss black grille (chrome for us) or a full-width rear spoiler. No RS badging either – just a subtle VTEC Turbo emblem. Inside, we can spot leather seats (with a carbon fibre pattern on the centre stripe), paddle shifters, dual-zone automatic air-conditioning and the Honda Display Audio infotainment system with a seven-inch touchscreen. A peek through the heavily-tinted rear windows also revealed rear air-con vents, … [Read more...] about 2016 Honda Civic previewed ahead of M’sia launch
Based on a screenshot posted in CivicX forums, it appears that the tenth-generation Honda Civic with the new 1.5 litre turbocharged engine will get a six-speed manual gearbox. However, for reasons unknown, the coupling has been delayed to 2017. Debuting just days ago, the Honda Civic sedan will start with a base LX variant in the US. Said variant comes with a 2.0 litre DOHC i-VTEC four-cylinder petrol engine paired with a six-speed manual or a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). It produces an output of 158 hp and 187 Nm of torque. Top-of-the-range Civic model however, will receive a smaller but more powerful 1.5 litre DOHC direct-injection turbo engine, which is currently only available with an automatic CVT transmission. For the top-range variant, it produces a total of 174 hp at 5,500 rpm and 219 Nm of torque from 1,800 to 5,000 rpm. The new Honda Civic is a massive revamp over the outgoing FB-gen Civic. It’s slated to take on “luxury compact class … [Read more...] about Honda Civic 1.5 turbo to get 6-speed manual in 2017
The tenth-generation Honda Civic may be hiding the true potential of its 1.5 litre turbocharged engine, according to the team over at Hondata. What they’ve done is take a standard North American 2016 Honda Civic EX, and hooked it up to a set of dynapacks to get a better read on the Civic’s engine output. In the brochure, the 1.5 litre turbo mill is said to dish out 174 hp and 220 Nm, nearly the same as that of the Thai-spec Civic. However, after some data gathering, it is revealed that the engine actually has 177 hp and 258 Nm on tap, which is 3 hp and 38 Nm more than listed. Shocking! Although these figures may come as a surprise, there are certain factors that may have contributed to them. For starters, Honda’s numbers were obtained from an engine dyno (no transmission attached). Here, the Civic was tested with a CVT transmission, making it more difficult to obtain accurate output numbers. The torque converter paired to the CVT, could have contributed to higher … [Read more...] about Honda Civic 1.5L turbo dyno run reveals higher output; drag race shows it’s faster than 205 hp FB Civic 2.4
Honda is testing a performance model in southern Europe now, but what exactly is this machine? The fact that it’s a performance model is undoubted – huge 20-inch wheels with rubber band tyres, Brembo brakes, flared wheel arches, triple pipes and a lurking intercooler shout hot hatch – but didn’t Honda just launch a Civic Type R earlier this year? No one knows for sure, but this could well be an early mule for the next Civic Type R. The body resembles the Acura ILX, but with a truncated rear end. It wears full camo, but we can see that the tail lamps are joined by an arc on the boot lid, just like on today’s Euro Civic. It’s known that Honda is readying a next-gen Civic, the tenth generation to bear the household name. The famously green coupe previewed the upcoming C-segment car in April this year, and we have spotted a long-tailed sedan (to be unveiled later this month in the US) on test before. Now this, a five-door fastback with sporty bits. … [Read more...] about SPYSHOTS: Another Honda Civic Type R in the works?
Here it is. The Honda Civic facelift is now officially listed on Honda Malaysia’s website, signalling the start of availability. Not a surprise to readers of this website of course – the FB MMC, which appeared in Thailand earlier this year, was listed on oto.my last month, pointing to a Nov 2014 launch. The refreshed C-segment favourite is already in selected Honda showrooms, and we showed you one such example earlier this week. Plenty of good news, and we’ll start with prices. The Civic range now starts at RM113,800 (OTR including insurance) for the 1.8 S, a reduction of RM2,180 from the July 2012 launch price of RM115,980. The best part is that there’s no reduced kit to arrive at the reduced price – the entry level Civic now comes with keyless Smart Entry with push start button, cruise control and auto headlamps. Chrome door handles, too. Things like auto air con, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) and dual airbags have been retained. The new 2.0 S also … [Read more...] about Honda Civic facelift now in Malaysia – more kit but lower prices across the board, from RM113,800
This preview of the 9th Generation Honda Civic very nearly did not happen. There were two possible endings – the car ending up in the river with its wheels rolling in the air, or the car ending inside the other FB Civic in front. Both of which would have had me flown home in a box or a very black bag. The Civic opened up a third possibility. Let me set the scene. It was a long and straight road in Thailand that blurred into the horizon. The river, equally straight and long, was on the left of the two-lane, well-paved road. “You can go faster now,” said my Thai guide. I needed no encouragement. I pushed the accelerator closer to the floor. The five-speed automatic kicked down a gear, smoothly I might add, and the 2.0 litre engine roared and picked up speed. At this point, I would have summoned all of the 153 hp and 190 Nm of torque available, and would have been well deep into the VTEC’s second stage. Speed was building up all too easy. This engine has one cam … [Read more...] about DRIVEN: 2012 Honda Civic FB (9th Gen) previewed in Thailand – not pretty, but handles brilliantly!
