Home Four wheelers oi-Athul By Athul Published: Monday, August 15, 2022, 9:34 [IST] While Citroen has already launched and started the deliveries of the Citroen C3 hatchback in India, the French automaker has yet again grabbed the headlines after leaked information about the upcoming automatic variant of the C3 hatchback leaks online. According to this leaked information, the upcoming Citroen C3 will be using a 6-speed torque converter gearbox. While this technology is common in automatic cars, it is generally found in more expensive models. Moreover, cars in this segment use Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) as they are cheaper to produce. However, these gearboxes do not offer the same levels of refinement and are known to be 'Jerky' at times. That being said, the recently leaked information reveals that the upcoming Citroen C3 will be sporting a 6-speed torque converter gearbox from Aisin. Red Bull open to Pierre Gasly exit: ‘Yuki Tsunoda already as quick over one lap’
Red Bull appear to be opening the door for Pierre Gasly to pursue other opportunities when his contract expires at the end of the 2023 season. Gasly finds himself bumping his head on a glass ceiling within the Red Bull programme, having worked his way up through the ranks and into the main senior team seat alongside Max Verstappen in 2019 only to be demoted to junior team again after just 12 races. The pathway back to the senior team for Gasly appears to be blocked as they have found a more solid option in the vastly experienced Sergio Perez and, even if Perez was no longer a Red Bull driver, it would not be a dead certainty that Gasly would have a second bite of the cherry. There is a strong desire in the Formula 1 community to see Gasly follow in the footsteps of Carlos Sainz and break away from the Red Bull family and go his own way. Judging by comments made by Helmut Marko via the French branch of Motorsport.com , people may get their wish at the end of next season. … [Read more...] about Red Bull open to Pierre Gasly exit: ‘Yuki Tsunoda already as quick over one lap’
Ralf Schumacher thinks Daniel Ricciardo’s time in Formula 1 is over
Daniel Ricciardo looks to be facing the end of his Formula 1 career if he leaves McLaren at the end of this season, says Ralf Schumacher. The Australian has reportedly been told he will be replaced by his younger compatriot Oscar Piastri for the 2023 campaign. That news has yet to be confirmed, however, and forms a leading storyline in the ‘silly season’ saga that began with Sebastian Vettel announcing he will retire after the season-finale Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in November. Aston Martin therefore needed a driver and signed Fernando Alonso from Alpine , who promptly announced Piastri as the Spaniard’s successor. That was knocked down within a couple of hours by the reigning Formula 2 champion though, who posted on social media the information was “wrong” and that he would not be driving for Alpine next year – as his strong links with McLaren began to emerge. Talk of the amount of compensation Ricciardo would demand from McLaren if his contract was ended a … [Read more...] about Ralf Schumacher thinks Daniel Ricciardo’s time in Formula 1 is over
BTCC Snetterton: Turkington dominates opener from Hill
Listen to this article Turkington led teammate Jake Hill all the way, via two safety cars, to head a 1-2 for the West Surrey Racing-run BMW 330e M Sport squad. In scorching conditions, Turkington led the field, and had just extended his advantage over Hill to over one second when the safety car was called for the first time on lap five, with the Power Maxed Racing Vauxhall Astra of Michael Crees in a vulnerable position on the exit of the Hamilton left-hander. Turkington, who as points leader was allowed just one lap of hybrid usage, got an excellent restart, but Hill (allowed four laps of hybrid) reeled the Northern Irishman in, and was applying serious pressure when the safety car appeared again. This time it was the Laser Tools Racing Infiniti Q50 of Aiden Moffat in trouble, the Scot getting pitched into the barriers at Riches after contact with the troubled Josh Cook’s BTC Racing Honda. The restart came with three laps of green-flag racing remaining, and … [Read more...] about BTCC Snetterton: Turkington dominates opener from Hill
Aston Martin set to lose their top-performing driver for the third time in a row · RaceFans
Sebastian Vettel has decided to hang up his helmet at the end of the season. It’s a decision which would likely have been received very differently had he taken it two years ago. Advert | Become a Supporter & go ad-free Back then,Vettel was on his way out of Ferrari after Charles Leclerc had wrecked the four-time champion’s claim to be the team’s top driver. Over his final season in red, Vettel was out-scored by his team mate by a ratio of nearly three to one. He fared better against Lance Stroll at Aston Martin last year and little has changed this year. However the team has taken another step backwards in competitiveness, so the pair are fighting over fewer points than before. Stroll has managed four points-scoring finishes, all for 10th place and a single point each time. Vettel has done slightly better, climbing as high as sixth in Baku (also the scene of his best finish last year), giving him a clear lead over his team mate in the championship. Top 10 Arrows F1 drivers ranked: Hill, Warwick, Fittipaldi and more
Listen to this article A team that began its time in Formula 1 under controversial circumstances, Arrows’ 24-year spell in the championship came to an end in 2002 amid mounting financial problems. Still the team with the most world championship race starts (counting the Footwork years) under its belt – at 382 – without ever taking a victory, Arrows came close to troubling the top step of the podium throughout its curious history – but fell short each time. The British squad, started up by former Lotus F1 driver Jackie Oliver, Alan Rees and Franco Ambrosio, went through multiple ownership changes in its latter years. It spent six seasons as Footwork in the 1990s, before Tom Walkinshaw took over for 1997 and restored the Arrows name. Although the team made an encouraging start under his tenure, with the Scot’s investment helping to bring 1996 champion Damon Hill and famed designer John Barnard into the team, it arguably over-reached its capabilities with an in-house engine … [Read more...] about Top 10 Arrows F1 drivers ranked: Hill, Warwick, Fittipaldi and more
Kawasaki “can’t be disappointed” with second in Suzuka 8 Hours
Listen to this article 2019 champion Kawasaki lacked the pace to defend its crown on the return of the Suzuka enduro after a two-year hiatus, with Haslam, Jonathan Rea and Alex Lowes finishing a lap down on the winning Honda crew comprising Tetsuta Nagashima, Takumi Takahashi and Iker Lecuona. Although Haslam could battle with Takahashi in the early laps and even briefly took the lead, aided by a safety car appearance, it soon became clear that the ZX-10RR was no match for the CBR1000RR-R and the Kawasaki trio continued to slip backwards during the race. A third-hour race intervention further dented its chances as Lowes was picked up by the second of two safety cars, before a fall for Rea in traffic eliminated any opportunity for a comeback. However, Haslam feels Kawasaki should be satisfied with its performance in the Japanese endurance classic, even if it fell short of scoring back-to-back victories after its 2019 triumph. “It's always nice to finish the 8 Hour but … [Read more...] about Kawasaki “can’t be disappointed” with second in Suzuka 8 Hours
New Land Rover Defender Ends Up On A Tow Truck… In Lego Form
Listen to this article They say that 90 percent of Land Rovers ever made are still on the road today; the other 10 percent reached their destinations, probably on a tow truck. That jest has been around since time immemorial, which says something about Land Rover's reputation. A video from YouTube aims to represent that joke, featuring a new Land Rover Defender that's being carried by a flatbed tow truck. Both in Lego form, of course. The video came from Lego Life and while it sounds like a dig at the British automaker, it actually was a video to showcase something different. Gallery: Lego Technic 2020 Land Rover Defender 3 Photos The video was made to demonstrate how good the Tatra Lego truck's suspension setup. Tatra is a Czech vehicle manufacturer and is one of the oldest car companies in the world founded in 1850. Unlike the officially released Land Rover Defender Lego Technic , the Tatra T813 8x8 … [Read more...] about New Land Rover Defender Ends Up On A Tow Truck… In Lego Form
