Quartararo stormed to his second-successive race win in 2021 by 4.8 seconds at the Algarve International Circuit to open up a 15-point lead in the championship after three rounds. Quartararo made a similarly strong start to his 2020 campaign, but was a lowly 14th at the Algarve track last season after the Portuguese venue proved to be one of Yamaha's weakest. Admitting pre-season he was wary about the low-grip Algarve track causing the Yamaha to suffer its usual issues in those conditions, Quartararo was strong across the entire Portimao weekend. "Yes, I feel honestly like [I did in] 2019," Quartararo said. "The bike is working so well and I have the same [bike as Qatar]. "We didn't touch the bike. We arrived here, it's exactly the same bike as Qatar, [only] changing a few things. But we never asked ourselves 'should we try this'. And 2019 was like this and you can see the difference between Qatar and here, it's totally different tracks. "So that means the bike is … [Read more...] about Quartararo ‘feels like 2019’ after Portimao MotoGP win

Mir forced into hard Marquez Portugal MotoGP overtake
The reigning world champion made slight contact with the returning Marquez at the Turn 11 Portimao right-hander on the opening lap of Sunday’s race as he made a move for third. The pair came to blows again a lap later at Turn 3 when Marquez clipped the rear of Mir, though both stayed mounted. This came a day after Mir was left unhappy by what he felt was “dangerous” tactics from the Honda rider in qualifying, marking the first bit of controversy between the reigning champion and the rider he dethroned. Mir, who went on to finish third, says he has to be “aggressive” starting so far back “if we want to fight for the championship”. Asked by Motorsport.com if the hard pass was a little bit of payback after qualifying, Mir said: “In the first lap it’s true we had the moment there [at Turn 11]. “I wanted to overtake and then he closed the line and then it was too late for me. Then we both touched. “It’s true that I felt a hit in the next lap and I didn’t know … [Read more...] about Mir forced into hard Marquez Portugal MotoGP overtake
2020 Honda e Advance Review: Lovable Retro Urban EV
Honda e has so many positives that you could almost forgive its so-so range and the high acquisition price. As a design exercise, there is little question about how successful the Honda e electric city car is. Sure, it may look like a retro-inspired car and that may have been done before, yet it has to be one of the most successful such designs ever. Some retro-inspired cars look a bit ridiculous and out of place; this Honda looks very handsome and fitting, though. But it’s not just a pretty (quirky) face - it’s also remarkably fun to drive, it has a very pleasant interior that can carry four adults and gadgets that place it among the top one percent most innovative cars. No, it’s not perfect, due to its low range and relatively high price, but if you get a chance to drive one, you’ll understand why I fell for it after spending just a few days driving it around the city. Design From the very first yards driving the Honda e in a big city environment, you notice just … [Read more...] about 2020 Honda e Advance Review: Lovable Retro Urban EV
Ten things we learned from F1’s 2021 Emilia Romagna GP
Formula 1's second race at Imola in the space of six months offered a vastly different affair to the inaugural Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in November. A pre-race rain shower left some drivers and teams battling to make it to the grid at all, while the greasy track made mistakes all the most costly once the lights did go out. A top-two of Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton may point to little changing since Bahrain, yet it is a long way from the true story of how Sunday's grand prix played out. Here are 10 things we learned from the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. 1. Verstappen and Hamilton are in a league of their own Max Verstappen, Red Bull Racing RB16B, Lewis Hamilton, Mercedes W12 Photo by: Charles Coates / Motorsport Images After all of the hype that has built in recent months about the prospect of a Verstappen versus Hamilton title fight, it is something of a relief to see it justified in the early part of the season. Imola may not have been a repeat of … [Read more...] about Ten things we learned from F1’s 2021 Emilia Romagna GP
McLaren: Norris Imola F1 podium deserved on merit
Norris took his second F1 podium with McLaren after battling from seventh on the grid to third, holding off Ferrari's Charles Leclerc behind F1's leading duo Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton. While Norris benefited from Sergio Perez' spin behind the safety car and McLaren team orders to release him past teammate Daniel Ricciardo, the British driver was good value for his podium. Norris backed up fourth place in Bahrain's season opener by finishing either second or third on pace in every qualifying session over the weekend, although he lost his third grid spot due to a track limits violation on his best Q3 lap. When asked if Norris earned his podium on pace, team principal Seidl said: "I definitely would say so, that it is a deserved podium today." "If you look at the two guys that have been in front of us, they are the reference in this sport together with their teams at the moment. Therefore, it is obviously very, very good to finish in P3. "It's important also … [Read more...] about McLaren: Norris Imola F1 podium deserved on merit
