Ferrari is testing a heavily camouflaged SF90 Stradale near the headquarters in Maranello. The black-and-white body wrap might hide a meaner version of the hybrid-powered supercar. Judging by previous models like this from the Prancing Horse, it might call the hotter version the Versione Speciale or Pista. The upgraded SF90 might even arrive before the end of the year. This rendering attempts to strip away the camouflage and imagine how the meaner model could look. Gallery: Ferrari SF90 Versione Speciale Motor1.com Rendering 4 Photos Racing-Ready Appearing Judging from the spy shots , Ferrari intends to make this SF90 look far more aggressive than the existing Stradale. In front, there would be a sharper, wider front section. Some of the pictures indicate there are new ducts in the hood. At the other end, a huge wing attaches to the rear deck . It's reportedly an active unit that would … [Read more...] about Ferrari SF90 Versione Speciale: How The Next 1,000+ HP Hypercar Could Look

What It’s Like Racing at the BMW Performance Center
If you’ve never been handed the keys to a high-performance, German-engineered coupe and then told to drive it to its limit on a closed course, let me fill you in on the experience. Space and time narrow to a very small window. At this particular moment, I was in a BMW M4 Competition approaching the starting line of an all-out, 300-foot sprint followed by a requirement to stomp on the brake as hard as humanly possible, smoothly glide into a sharp turn, then mash the gas again. You’re afforded a split second to consider if you can safely brake in time or blow through the cones (you’re fine most of the time). Your reflexes have to recover in an instant to make up the ground you lost in the turn and beat your top speed from the prior run. The BMW Performance Center in Thermal, CA, an hour east of Palm Springs, the home of a high-performance driving school open to all, bills itself as an opportunity to “drive on the edge of physics.” As someone who considers his “edge” the … [Read more...] about What It’s Like Racing at the BMW Performance Center
A key inflation gauge tracked by the Fed slowed in February
This is a carousel. Use Next and Previous buttons to navigate 6 WASHINGTON (AP) — The Federal Reserve's favored inflation gauge slowed sharply last month, an encouraging sign in the Fed's yearlong effort to cool price pressures through steadily higher interest rates. Friday’s report from the Commerce Department showed that consumer prices rose 0.3% from January to February, down from a 0.6% increase from December to January. Measured year-over-year, prices rose 5%, slower than the 5.3% annual increase in January. Excluding volatile food and energy prices, so-called core inflation rose 0.3% from January and 4.6% from a year earlier. Both were slowdowns from the previous month. The Fed is believed to pay particular attention to the core measure as a gauge of underlying inflation pressures. Taken as a whole, Friday's figures show that inflation pressures, though easing gradually, still maintain a grip on the economy. Tiny Power Wheels Rooftop Tent Is An April Fools’ Joke We Wish Was Real
'Tis the season for pranks, and to make things abundantly clear right off the bat, this tiny tent is not real. You cannot buy one, and we're pretty sure the tent in this photo is merely a photoshop creation. April Fools' Day is upon us, and among the automotive-based jokes we've seen, we aren't sure you'll find something more adorable than a Power Wheels Jeep decked out for overlanding. We have Roofnest to thank for this clever idea. The Colorado-based company manufactures all kinds of real rooftop tents, and if this was among them, it would be called the Hatchling. Billed as the world's first rooftop tent for children, it measures a fictional 36 inches long by 24 inches wide and 23 inches tall. It's sized to accommodate two young children embarking on backyard adventures, or for parents who really need a good night's sleep, we're told three toddlers also fit inside. A "gangly tween" also reportedly fits in the mini-tent. As seen in the photo, the tent neatly mounts to the top … [Read more...] about Tiny Power Wheels Rooftop Tent Is An April Fools’ Joke We Wish Was Real
