Swedish aerospace and defense company Saab AB has decided not to allow National Electric Vehicles Sweden to use the Saab name and griffin logo. Speaking with Automotive News Europe , Saab AB spokesman Sebastian Carlsson confirmed "We have revoked their right to use the [Saab] brand name."  The spokesman went on to say the company is no longer discussing the issue. While NEVS has been using the Saab name for years, Saab AB withdrew the company's rights to name nearly two years ago when the company ran into financial problems and couldn't pay its creditors . There's no word on what future models will be called but NEVS Chariman Kai Johan Jiang told Sveriges Radio the vehicles will have a name that is tailored to the Chinese market. This decision isn't terribly surprising as China is critical to the company's future as NEVS has recently signed a $1 billion deal with China Volant Industry Co. The partnership with Toyota would yield the rear-drive chassis for these vehicles. A report from Japanese Website Car Sensor claims that Mazda might switch a future generation of the Mazda6 (2017 model pictured above) to rear-wheel drive by borrowing a platform from Toyota. To make the possibility even more tantalizing, this chassis might underpin the production version of the RX-Vision concept, too. The move to rear drive for the Mazda6 would be part of the brand’s move up market . The new design would feature a long nose and short front overhang to lend a more premium appearance to the sedan. The firm’s Skyactiv X engines with compression ignition would be under the hood. Or, it could be Mahindra trying to change names of SUVs it currently produces. No other details are available at this point in time. The brand has produced some brilliant SUVs with the XUV moniker until now. Now we know there are more XUVs coming our way. Even though it is not uncommon to see companies trademarking several similar names to prevent rivals from using similar names, we suspect this move could be a part of bringing a new structure within Mahindra for its product portfolio. For some markets, production starts in mid-2022. The Toyota bZ4X electric vehicle concept arrives to preview the Japanese brand's entry into the burgeoning crossover EV segment. The company plans to launch the production version in mid-2022 with production taking place in Japan and China. Unfortunately, the automaker isn't willing to share US-market details about the vehicle yet, saying that info is coming "at a later date." The bZ4X wears a small hexagonal grille in the lower part of the fascia and vertical gills in the corners, but there are otherwise no openings in the front end.
