The car is awesome, but Jay’s jokes get in the way. There are few cars in the world as identifiable and iconic as K.I.T.T. from the quintessential 1980’s television show Knight Rider . Being one of the most identifiable and iconic car guys in the world we’d expect Jay Leno to be totally into the it, especially considering this isn’t a replica but one of the original cars used on the series. In fact, it’s one of only five that are still around, and it was literally saved from a junkyard by its current owner, Joe Huth. The backstory on this rare car is amazing, but sadly Leno seemed more interesting in poking fun at the owner and his friend because both are superfans of the TV show. Really? Yeah, really. Valentino Rossi’s Petronas Yamaha move finally announced
The nine-time grand prix world champion was moved out of the factory Yamaha squad for 2021 at the start of the year to make way for Fabio Quartararo to join Maverick Vinales.Rossi originally wanted the first six or seven races of the 2020 season to determine whether he was competitive enough to continue, but the coronavirus pandemic scuppered this plan.He confirmed at the start of the season at Jerez in July that he was “99%” to sign for Petronas, but discussions carried on for months afterwards as both parties looked to finalise certain elements – the key sticking point being what crew moves with Rossi to Petronas. Conceived, designed and built as a hark back to the original 300 SL "Gullwing" of the 1950s, the SLS AMG is the first ever car completely engineered by the AMG division from the ground up. So it was a crowning moment for some of the Daimler top brass like CEO Dieter Zetsche when the audience first laid eyes on it. After all, life might be quite difficult for the new Gullwing when it takes its place on the starting line-up alongside other my-daddy-was-a-legend performance cars like the new McLaren MP4 12C. It is under those circumstances that its … [Read more...] about Mercedes SLS AMG in the Flesh at 2009 IAA
Misano Moto2: Bastianini wins red-flagged race
Bastianini is set to step up to MotoGP next season with the Avintia squad after confirming last weekend he has signed a deal with Ducati. The original race only ran for six full laps when spots of rain forced the red flag to be flown, with Bastianini having taken the lead the tour before. The second start had to be abandoned owing to worsening rain with the entire field on slicks, and a delay of around 15 minutes was had before a 10-lap restart got underway just after 1:10pm local time. Bastianini was jumped by Marini off the line, though the Italtrans rider aggressively tried to take the lead back at Turn 4 and forced both wide – allowing Xavi Vierge on the Petronas Sprinta bike to hit the front. Vierge was overhauled by Bastianini through the fast Curvone right-hander at Turn 11, with world championship leader Marini losing spots as his decision to stick with the harder rubber he used for the original start looked to be backfiring.Bastianini immediately put a second between … [Read more...] about Misano Moto2: Bastianini wins red-flagged race
