The Renault Kiger compact-SUV offering retails at a starting price of a little below Rs 6 lakh, ex-showroom (Delhi). Now, almost a month after its launch, the company has revealed that they have registered 3,226 units of compact-SUV during the month of February 2021. The Renault Kiger has managed to receive a good response in the market, especially considering the demand and level of competition in the segment it is positioned. At the end of February 2021, the Renault Kiger has already managed to slot itself as the fifth best-selling compact-SUV in the Indian market. Last year, the French car manufacturer elected to delay the introduction of a new engine to 2022 as a consequence of the coronavirus pandemic. It means it is using just an upgraded engine for this season, but that has given it extra time to evaluate wider scale changes for next season. One of the ideas being looked at is adopting the design that Mercedes pioneered in F1, of splitting the turbo and compressor elements of the power unit. Ever since the turbo hybrid era started, Mercedes elected to split the two elements so they were either side of the internal combustion engine. They are joined by a connecting shaft that runs between the inside of the V-bank. The company also announced the delivery of 110 units of the Kiger SUV to their respective customers across India on the first day of sales commencement. The Renault Kiger went on sale in India on the 15th of February. The compact-SUV offering from the French carmaker is offered in a range of four main variants: RXE, RXL, RXT and RXZ. Prices for the new sub-4-metre SUV starts from Rs 5.45 lakh and goes all the way to Rs 9.55 lakh, ex-showroom (Delhi). The Renault Kiger is based on the CMFA+ platform, which also underpins the latest-iteration Kwid, as well as the Triber MPV in the brand's lineup. In a virtual launch event hosted from the team's UK base in Enstone, Alpine presented the new A521 car ahead of its race debut at the end of this month. 2021 will see the Alpine name make its bow in F1 after Renault opted to rebrand its works team as part of a restructuring of the group's companies and marques.
