2016 Formula 1 World Champion Nico Rosberg has announced that he is joining the ABB FIA Formula E Championship as an investor and shareholder ahead of this weekend’s 2018 Rome ePrix. Rosberg has taken a keen interest in Formula E since his retirement from F1, attending the 2017 Hong Kong ePrix last December. Jaguar Prepares I-Type 3 for Next Formula E Season

When it’s ready to compete, it will offer more power than the automaker’s current entry. The new Gen2 race car delivers 250 kW, or the equivalent of 335 hp, in qualifying trim and 200 kW (270 hp) for the actual race. Its predecessor, which made the same power in race mode, was said to hit 60 mph in 2.9 seconds and hit a top speed of 140 mph. In Formula E, competitors can design their own powertrain but share common components such as the carbon-fiber chassis and battery, which has been improved for the 2018/2019 season. Rosberg to carry out first public demo of new Formula E car
2016 Formula 1 world champion Nico Rosberg will drive the new Gen2 Formula E car for the first time in public at the Berlin ePrix. He will be given a ten minute slot before round nine of the series in May to demonstrate the new car, which includes a radical new chassis design and increased power. The German driver has shown a keen interest in electric racing since his retirement, and attended the Hong Kong ePrix earlier this year. He also revealed that he has invested in shares of Formula E, and is already a long-term investor in the series. Jaguar already has a team in Formula E, the open wheel race series for electric cars. Soon it will begin production of the i-PACE, an all electric SUV to rival the Tesla Model X. The company says every car it sells will have an electric motor — whether in a hybrid, plug-in hybrid, or electric car — by 2020.
