Tweet TweetFord decided to reveal first details on the 2015 Ranger pick-up truck. The facelifted model is expected to go on sale in the first months of 2015, therefore, this preview should be followed by a complete unveil very soon. Unfortunately, there are no exact details on the engines that will be found under the hood. Currently, the Ford Ranger uses a 2.2-liter 150 hp diesel and a 3.2-liter 200 hp as well. Both are linked to a six-speed manual transmission with an optional automatic unit on the list. Considering the company’s statement, that the new Ranger is smarter, safer, smoother and stronger, expect some power improvements too. In terms of styling, the Ranger facelift will be based on the new Everest. Therefore, revised bumpers and wheels are expected as well as a quite big overhaul at the interior. With this been said, be sure to take a look at the teaser video above for the 2015 Ford Ranger. … [Read more...] about 2015 Ford Ranger facelift previewed

There’s much hype about the Ford Ranger Raptor that will be making its debut next month in Thailand, but it looks like the regular Ford Ranger will also be given a refresh. These pics, posted by Headlightmag, were taken by a Thai Ford Ranger Club member in Rayong, where the Ranger is produced for worldwide consumption. This T6 generation of the Ford Ranger made its debut back in 2011, and a major facelift followed exactly four years later in 2015. The current T6 facelift has been sold in Malaysia since October 2015. Compared to the current car with the regular face (not the Wildtrak), the 2018 minor change is a minor one in the looks department. The most obvious change is on the grille, which thick chrome borders no longer extend deep into the bumper. The thick central chrome bar that “holds” the Blue Oval badge has been replaced by two slimmer but longer bars. The top border of the grille with “Ranger” lettering is also slimmer. You would have seen the 2015 Ford Ranger facelift by now, going through one of the first live galleries of the refreshed truck in the world yesterday. Gut fed and fuelled, we’re now back to dive deeper into the specifications and new features of the global One Ford pick-up truck. It still looks and drives fresh, but the current Ranger was first unveiled to the world in October 2010 in Australia, four and a half years ago. We covered the truck’s ASEAN debut at the 2011 Bangkok Motor Show a couple of months later. The much-anticipated model came to Malaysia in mid-2012. Since then, the T6 has won many fans and owners – Ford sold 195,000 units of the Ranger in 2014 alone, and sales in Malaysia jumped 49% to 8,577 units last year, making it the second best selling pick-up truck after the Hilux. The Toyota is pretty hard to beat (in terms of sales) but Ford actually managed to do so in Vietnam, Cambodia, Philippines, Myanmar and New Zealand last year. In Thailand, a major … [Read more...] about 2015 Ford Ranger facelift – all the new features and changes detailed, plus live gallery from Bangkok
First unveiled as the Ranger MAX Concept at the Thai Motor Expo in November last year, the new Ford Ranger facelift is now on sale in Malaysia as a CBU import from its regional production center in Rayong, Thailand. The Ranger’s 2.5 litre Duratorq turbodiesel engine with lag-free VGT puts out 143 PS and 330Nm of torque, mated to either a 5-speed manual (RM83,888 Peninsular and RM86,388 East Malaysia) or a 5-speed automatic transmission (RM88,888 Peninsular and RM92,388 East Malaysia). if you buy it now you can get a free accessory package worth RM2,000 while stocks last. Ford seems to have abandoned its “a truck should look like a truck” stand that it took when it first launched this edition of the Ranger, as the new facelift now has alot more curves that was previously reserved for the Mazda Fighter. Much of the front is new, with new headlamps and new fender panels etc but most of the rear remains the same. The new look was designed by a team based in Melbourne. Launched last month, the facelifted Ford Ranger is the latest vehicle to be subjected to crash testing by ASEAN NCAP – the Blue Oval pick-up truck has been awarded five stars by the regional safety agency. The Ranger scored an impressive 15.45 points in Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) in the 64 km/h frontal offset crash test, putting it well within the five-star threshold. However, it stumbles slightly in Child Occupant Protection (COP), netting just three stars with a 63% compliance rating. Bear in mind that only vehicles equipped with electric stability control (ESC) are eligible for the five-star rating; those without the safety net gain a four-star rating instead. However, all Ranger models in Malaysia are equipped with ESC, so they should all qualify for a five-star rating. Dual airbags are standard fitment over here, with the range-topping 3.2L Wildtrack variant adding side and curtain airbags, for a total of six airbags. So far, five pickup trucks have been tested by ASEAN … [Read more...] about Ford Ranger facelift scores 5 stars in ASEAN NCAP
Nothing wrong with going with a ‘strong, silent type’ approach to plug the 2015 Ford Ranger facelift, but when a press release comes in with just a few photos and no accompanying text save to say “Coming soon to Malaysia,” that’s taking it to a whole new level. The Blue Oval has released three new images of the Ranger in its XLT form, with the sole studio shot being of a 4×4 and the outdoor ones (that’s a Thai backdrop, by the way) being of a Hi-Rider variant. Word sometime ago was that the facelifted Ranger, which made its world debut in Bangkok back in March, was set to arrive here sometime around mid-year, so not long more to go before the refreshed T6 makes its local debut. Click to enlarge. Three revised Puma oil burners might make it to the Malaysian market – output on the ZSD-422 2.2 litre four-pot Duratorq TDCi has been bumped up to 158 hp and 385 Nm from the 148 hp and 375 Nm seen on the current pre-facelift. There’s also … [Read more...] about 2015 Ford Ranger facelift – a sprinkling of new XLT images of the pickup, ‘coming soon to Malaysia’
It looks to be a busy six months ahead for Ford and Sime Darby AutoConneXion, with three vehicle launches set to come about before the year is out and another two due in early 2016. The Ford Ranger T6 facelift is slated to premiere in the country in October/November, and word is that the second-generation Everest SUV will also be previewed here at that point. Pricing for the Ranger facelift will be increased by around 3% higher than presently, and there’s also news on that front for the new Everest – the third-gen U375 will go on sale here in two versions, a rather basic rear-wheel drive 2.2L (called the XLT) and a much higher-specified 3.2 all-wheel drive variant. The latter is essentially a mid-level Thai-spec Titanium (or mid-level Australian-spec Trend, with Titanium elements). According to SDAC MD Lee Eu San, pricing for the Everest is still a ways from being firmed up, but tentatively, the 2.2 is expected to go for around RM180k while the 3.2 litre will be priced in … [Read more...] about Ford Ranger facelift to debut in early Q4, followed by Everest, S-MAX – Focus facelift will be 1.5 EcoBoost
With plenty of activity in the pick-up truck segment this year – a new Navara launched, a new Triton coming soon, and even word of a new Hilux on the horizon, the Ford Ranger has now been spotted with a mid-life facelift. Since the current-generation Ranger made its debut in Q4 2010, it’s about due for a refresh now. From the disguise on the truck in these spyshots, we can see that Ford will be giving the Ranger a new front end. One logical way to go about it would be to give the Ranger facelift the front end of the Ford Everest Concept shown earlier this year at Bangkok 2014. That way the Ranger facelift and the new Everest would be brought in line with a common look, as it usually is with these pickup-based SUVs. Our spies have also sighted the new Ford Everest on test, and from what we see the general look of the production seven-seater pickup-based SUV is similiar to the concept version. With about half of 2014 gone now, we’re expecting these two new … [Read more...] about SPYSHOTS: Ford Ranger facelift and new Ford Everest
Ford Ranger facelift can already be seen at Ford Thailand’s website, so its only about time before the Thai-sourced pickup truck makes its way onto Malaysian soils. The styling for the Ranger facelift is of course derived from the Ranger Max show truck at the Thai Motor Expo last year. In Thailand, its powered by either a 2.5 litre or a 3.0 litre unit, putting out 143PS/330Nm and 156PS/380Nm respectively. Towing capacity is rated at 2,250kg and 3,000kg respectively. Both are DuraTORQ TDCi units with common rail direct injection and variable geometry turbocharger technology, mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission or a 5-speed manual transmission with dual-mass flywheel. Have a look after the jump for more detailed shots of the new Ranger. … [Read more...] about 2009 Ford Ranger facelift: first details unveiled!
If you live in the NAFTA zone (excluding Mexico, of course), your best bet at seeing a global Ford Ranger is in the movie The Counselor. Otherwise, you’ll soon be able to buy a now-updated version of Ford’s F-150 for the rest of us.As you’ve been told countless times, the Ranger is redundant in America, thanks to being 90 percent of the F-150’s size but no less expensive. Along with an updated SYNC system, it gets a new suite of active safety features (active cruise control, park assist), as well as trailer sway control, hill descent control and things that our government considers mandatory, like tire pressure monitors. A basic mid-size pickup this ain’t.Power comes from a gasoline 2.5L 4-cylinder engine or 4 and 5 cylinder diesels. … [Read more...] about 2015 Ford Ranger Facelifted
