Ford has revealed the latest iteration of its Mustang Bullitt; the 475bhp and a 420lb ft of special edition paying tribute to the famed film car on its 50th anniversary. It’s the third time Ford has created a Bullitt edition Mustang - the first came in the Mustang’s fourth generation in 2001, and then again in 2008 for the fifth-generation Mustang, regarded as a reinvention of the model. The Ford Mustang Bullitt, based on the 2018 version of the car due to reach Europe this spring, gets a special livery inspired by the classic 1968 Mustang in the McQueen epic, best known for its car chase scene. The Bullitt also gets a series of mechanical modifications to cement its status as the most special Mustang in the range.Speed is up over the regular 5.0-litre Mustang’s 155mph top speed, at 168mph, thanks to the uprated power output - the standard car puts out 444bhp. It’s marked out by Dark Highland Green paint (black is also available), with gunmetal … [Read more...] about 2018 Ford Mustang Bullitt revealed

The rumored return of the Ford Mustang Bullitt looks to be true. An unnamed source has told Automotive News the model will debut at the Detroit Auto Show. The Bullitt will arrive for the 2018 model year, according to the report, in time for the 50th anniversary of Steve McQueen’s film of the same name. Performance-wise, expect the suspension to be worked but power numbers may stay the same. Ford has just released the refreshed Mustang Stateside and rates the 5.0-litre at 343kW with 570Nm of torque. The Bullitt Mustang was first spotted during a photoshoot in Chicago, Illinois last year. The 1968 GT 390 fastback model in the Bullitt film is kitted with a dark-green paintjob, and a blacked-out grille. Before 2017 came to an end, photos of a new Ford Mustang Bullitt hit the Internet. The pictures revealed a 2018 Mustang redone in the same way as the pony car Steve McQueen drove in the 1968 film Bullitt. While the photos all but confirmed that Ford was working on a Bullitt Mustang, we didn’t know when the car would make an official appearance. Thanks to an eagle-eyed member of Mustang 6G forum, we now know that the 2018 version of the pony car will be auctioned off at Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale auction on January 19.According to the forum, one of its members managed to track down Lot #3006, which is listed as being a “Ford Charity Vehicle.” While that tidbit of information doesn’t exactly point towards a new Bullitt Mustang, it looks like Barrett-Jackson used the silhouette of the original Bullitt Mustang – a 1968 Mustang GT 390 Fastback – as the image of the vehicle being auctioned off.In addition to the image, another clue can be found in … [Read more...] about Long-Awaited Ford Mustang Bullitt Coming To Barrett-Jackson
We knew a Ford Mustang Bullitt was coming a while ago, most likely at the Detroit auto show next week. Now we know approximately when the first one will be sold too, thanks to a Barrett-Jackson auction listing. The folks over at Mustang6G.com found an online auction listing for a “special new Ford Mustang” to be sold Friday, January 19 in Scottsdale, AZ.This new Mustang is to be sold with 100 percent of the hammer price benefitting the Boys Republic charity. Auctioning cars for charity is a normal thing to do, but this specific charity is significant because it runs a school for troubled youths in Chino Hills, CA that Steve McQueen attended in 1946. Of course, McQueen was the man who piloted the original Dark Highland Green Mustang in the famous 1968 movie, Bullitt. This “coincidence” all but guarantees we’ll see the new Bullitt at the auction, if not at the Detroit auto show.An imminent introduction for the Bullitt doesn’t come as a surprise.
