Arguably one of the most stylish SUVs available, the Range Rover Velar is getting subtle exterior changes for the 2024 model year. Land Rover's designers have not fiddled with the styling too much as the luxury vehicle largely retains the sleek styling of the pre-facelift version. Updated headlights have jewel-like daytime running lights and flank a discreetly revised front grille. At the rear, the bumper's lower part has been mildly updated. Bigger changes have occurred inside the cabin where the 2024 Velar uses Land Rover's swanky 11.4-inch infotainment with a "floating" curved glass touchscreen. This hardware change brings it in line with the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport , allowing users to access 80 percent of the available functions with just two taps of the home screen. 2024 Range Rover Velar 35 Photos Pivi Pro can accept over-the-air updates and … [Read more...] about 2024 Range Rover Velar Debuts With New Infotainment, Starts At $61,500

Rossi sees advantage for McLaren over rivals in unique F1-IndyCar team set-up · RaceFans

Advert | Become a Supporter & go ad-free He arrives at McLaren after seven years at Andretti Autosport, which is seeking to emulate its rival team by adding an F1 entry alongside its existing IndyCar squad . McLaren go into their fourth season in IndyCar since their full-time return to the series this year. In that time they have won four races, all with Rossi’s team mate Pato O’Ward, and have also expanded to race in Extreme E and now Formula E. They added a third full-time IndyCar entry in order to field Rossi this year. “It’s been very cool to kind of watch them evolve and expand over the past couple of months,” their new driver said. “Obviously I don’t have a benchmark of what they were before, but certainly the commitment to kind of performance and results goes without saying. First look: Bisou restaurant at River Oaks District
This is a carousel. Use Next and Previous buttons to navigate 21 The owners of Houston nightclub Cle worked hard to get the world's best deejay talent to the razzle dazzle club that has redefined Houston nightlife. And now those same partners have employed considerable effort – and no small amount of showy sophistication – to bring a new, high level of dining to Houston with Bisou ("kiss" in French), opening for dinner tonight at River Oaks District, 4444 Westheimer. Armed with a knockout design and a chef who happens to be among the most elite classically trained chefs in the country, Bisou is ready to start doling out the charm and maybe even a few pecks on the cheek. The 5,500-square foot restaurant, in the former Taverna that closed in June, represents a huge leap for the Cle Group that operates Cle and Spire nightclubs. It's a new … [Read more...] about First look: Bisou restaurant at River Oaks District
Alonso “wouldn’t accept” continuing in F1 at less than 100%
Listen to this article Alonso returned to F1 with Alpine in 2021 after taking a two-year break to race in the FIA World Endurance Championship, the Indy 500 and the Dakar Rally. Alonso's third stint at the Enstone outfit got off to a slow start but once he got back up to speed the Spaniard re-found his old form, frequently suggesting he was driving at his best-ever level in 2022, a season which was blighted by reliability issues. For 2023, Alonso jumped ship to Aston Martin, which struggled last year to finish seventh in the constructors' championship. While the team is a step down from Alpine in the short term, the Lawrence Stroll-led outfit managed to convince Alonso with its long-term project, answering to Alonso's desire to stay in F1 for years to come. And the 41-year-old says he wouldn't have accepted to continue if he didn't think he was still capable of performing at his peak, or if he wasn't convinced that Aston can close the gap while he is still around. … [Read more...] about Alonso “wouldn’t accept” continuing in F1 at less than 100%
2016 Canadian Grand Prix driver ratings · RaceFans
Did anyone manage a perfect weekend in Canada? Here’s F1 Fanatic’s verdict on the drivers. Mercedes Lewis Hamilton – Having been comfortably quickest on Friday Hamilton looked less assured on Saturday and admitted his fifth pole in Canada was not one of his finest laps . He made another indifferent start, losing out to Vettel, and kept Rosberg behind firmly but legally. When Ferrari let victory slip through their fingers Hamilton was perfectly placed to collect it. Nico Rosberg – Well off Hamilton’s pace on Friday (with, curiously, a much higher top speed), but after scrutinising his team mate’s data Rosberg ran him close for most of qualifying until he got too greedy in the turn one braking zone on his final run. He left himself vulnerable to Hamilton at the start and should have expected his team mate to give him as little room as he did two years ago. After that his progress was hampered by a puncture and a penultimate-lap spin while trying to pass Verstappen. … [Read more...] about 2016 Canadian Grand Prix driver ratings · RaceFans
One-Off Bugatti Chiron Profilee Sells For $10.8M At Auction
The Chiron is a success for Bugatti. The French automaker has sold all 500 of the build slots for the model and its variants. Now, even the pre-series model, the one-off Chiron Profilee was sold – and it's for a pretty, absolutely beautiful penny. In an auction held in France, the Bugatti Chiron Profilee was sold for 9,792,500 euros or $10,761,223 at the current exchange rates. This price doesn't include VAT, which will bring the price up to 12 million euros or over $13 million. Bugatti-Rimac CEO Mate Rimac claims that the Profilee now holds the world record for the most expensive new car sold at auction. The one-off Bugatti Chiron Profilee bridges the gap between the regular Chiron and the Chiron Pur Sport . Its development started in 2020, but despite Bugatti knowing that it was not meant to become a series vehicle, the automaker pushed through and finished the project. Powered by Bugatti's quad-turbocharged W16 engine, the Chiron Profilee produces an impressive 1,476 … [Read more...] about One-Off Bugatti Chiron Profilee Sells For $10.8M At Auction
H-E-B employee’s petition for grocery chain to change sick leave gains traction
An anonymous H-E-B employee is calling for company CEO Howard Butt, III to change the grocery store's sick day policy after alleging they were told to continue working after testing positive for COVID-19 on Jan. 1, 2023. "While I wasn't running a fever, I had terrible symptoms and by all means should have been encouraged to stay at home," the person posted in January, along with their petition . The employee states that the sick leave issue arose because of their testing positive for COVID, however the petition argues against the H-E-B's sick policy as a whole. The company's previous policy allowed employees to call out sick eight times over the span of a year. Now, employees could potentially lose their job if they call out more than three times in six months, according to a June 2022 article published by the San Antonio Report. H-E-B company policy uses a step system to track an employee's attendance, according to reporter Waylon Cunningham. Employees gain steps if they miss … [Read more...] about H-E-B employee’s petition for grocery chain to change sick leave gains traction
Hamilton edges Bottas for Driver of the Weekend win · RaceFans
Lewis Hamilton won a close Driver of the Weekend poll over Valtteri Bottas in the Canadian Grand Prix. How close? There was just one vote in it. Lewis Hamilton’s Canadian Grand Prix weekend Hamilton was in fine for mas usual at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, where he won his first race eight years ago and is usually spectacular and fast. With no power unit problems in qualifying he netted pole position for the fourth time this year. However his biggest mistake of the weekend again came at the start, dropping him behind Sebastian Vettel and forcing him to defend firmly – but legally – from his team mate. From there on Hamilton kept Vettel in sight and was perfectly placed to take advantage when Ferrari erred with their strategy. He never put a wheel wrong, even in the closing stages when his tyres were getting increasingly worn. Hamilton won the poll with just 28.5% of the vote. This is the fourth-smallest winning percentage we’ve seen in Driver of the Weekend, the lowest … [Read more...] about Hamilton edges Bottas for Driver of the Weekend win · RaceFans
