Jalopnik Reviews All of our test drives in one convenient place. People make mistakes. Sometimes it’s as small as forgetting to pay a parking ticket, and sometimes it’s spending a lot of money on a rally car that ends up parked, becoming a huge pain in the ass. What isn’t a mistake is Land Rover offering the Range Rover diesel to Americans, which is a great way of throwing six figures in hard cash at taking care of the problem of moving an unwanted rally car. The rally car in question is not mine. It’s the poor bastard child of Jalopnik Social Media Editor Aaron Brown, who owns more cars than shirts, and who needed to move his 1987 Subaru RX from the shop space he was renting near the city to store in upstate New York indefinitely. He happened to bring this up to me while I had the 2018 Range Rover HSE Td6 for a week, so I offered haul it for him to get over my Intimidating Life Achievement Goal of towing something for the first time. We picked a horrible day … [Read more...] about Towing With a $100,000 Range Rover Diesel is the Best Way To Throw Money at a Problem

Nothing stamps out and rivets-together an abstract concept like the Range Rover. It’s more than an SUV. It’s fancy. It’s important. It’s rolling royalty for god-sakes, man. It was good enough to put in the Louvre 40 years ago and now it’s better than ever. Plus, puppies love it! But the thing is, there’s now two major flavors of Range Rover you can get — the smaller, sportier Sport, and the larger normal Range Rover, which I just tested in extended wheelbase form. Both are great. Almost perfect, in fact. But which is better? (Disclosure: Land Rover let me borrow the Range Rover Sport Supercharged and long-wheelbase Range Rover, both powered by the same engine. I’m also the kind of delusional Land Rover fanboy who sometimes misses his Discovery 1.) Decades of well-executed brand marketing, product placements, and a strong alliterative name have paid off for the Range Rover brand. Now it’s parked perfectly in this status-symbol … [Read more...] about Range Rover VS. Range Rover Sport: Which Screaming LuxoTank Is For You?
Is the Fender premium stereo in Cars.com's Best of 2018 award-winning Volkswagen Atlas worth $5,800? After comparing this 12-speaker system in an Atlas SEL Premium with the eight-speaker system in our Atlas SEL, we can say, of course not. We pose the question this way because it isn't an optional feature that you can tack onto the Atlas of your choice; it comes standard only on the highest trim level, the SEL Premium, which itself is sold only with the V-6 engine and all-wheel drive for a grand total of $49,665 with destination fee. This is $5,800 more than the non-Premium Atlas SEL V6 AWD and includes many other standard features.
