Listen to this article Should Verstappen win the grand prix at Marina Bay and secure the fastest lap, he will win the title if Charles Leclerc ranks ninth or lower and if teammate Sergio Perez is fifth or worse. That becomes 10th for Leclerc should Verstappen land victory but without netting the bonus point for the fastest lap. If Red Bull driver Verstappen, who carries a pre-race lead of 116 points, finishes in second place or lower then his seemingly inevitable second coronation will wait until the Japanese GP. Should Verstappen get the job done this weekend, he will tie with Michael Schumacher . The German holds the record for the earliest title win, claiming the 2002 crown with five races to spare, while Hamilton has twice taken the spoils with three races to go. While Mercedes racer Hamilton did concede his early successes have been bad for the spectacle, he said that he would "feel for the fans" if Verstappen won it so early. Listen to this article Street circuits are known for being mentally taxing despite the lower speeds involved, requiring full concentration at all times and little time for respite on the short straights. But Singapore is a beast like no other. It is renowned for being one of the hardest races to compete in both physically and mentally, meaning it requires a kind of preparation unlike any other race. Daniel Ricciardo says his first Singapore Grand Prix back in 2011 remains the toughest physical activity he has ever completed. "I wasn't prepared, and that sounds like I was partying all week!" he tells Motorsport.com. Hans-Joachim Stuck believes Haas should just re-sign Mick Schumacher – after all, they will not get a “driver like Lewis Hamilton” as his replacement. Haas are one of three Formula 1 teams with a seat open for next season, that is if one considers Pierre Gasly locked into AlphaTauri. That has given team boss Guenther Steiner options and time, the team boss adamant he will not be rushed into a decision. While he recently revealed Schumacher has a “50-50” chance of spending another season as Kevin Magnussen’s team-mate, he is not ready to nail his colours to that mast. As for Schumacher’s side, the 23-year-old is reportedly in talks with both Alpine and Williams, although the latter seems the more likely option should he not continue with Haas. Williams team boss Jost Capito has talked him up, telling Sky Deutschland the driver is “very fast and a good guy – he should be on the list of the teams that still have a seat”. Stuck is baffled as to why no team has yet snapped … [Read more...] about ‘Haas should sign Mick Schumacher because they won’t get a Lewis Hamilton’
