Boudette and Ceylan Yeginsu Sept. 7, 2018 Tesla shares dropped sharply on Friday after the electric-car company disclosed that its chief of accounting was leaving the company only weeks after coming aboard. The upheaval in the executive ranks emerged hours after the company’s chief executive, Elon Musk, appeared live on YouTube taking a deep drag on what appeared to be a marijuana cigarette during an interview with the comedian Joe Rogan, an advocate for legalizing marijuana. In early trading, Tesla’s shares were off as much as 9 percent. The hiring of the accounting chief, Dave Morton, had been announced days before Mr. Musk abruptly took to Twitter last month and declared that he was planning to take Tesla private and had “funding secured.” But in a … [Read more...] about Tesla Shares Shaken by Accounting Chief’s Exit and Musk’s Pot Smoke

Musk company to build Chicago-to-O’Hare express
Associated Press Published 1:06 p.m. UTC Jun 14, 2018 Chicago – The Boring Company, founded by Tesla CEO Elon Musk, has been selected to build a high-speed underground transportation system that it says will whisk passengers from downtown Chicago to O’Hare International Airport in mere minutes. Each electric vehicle in the proposed tunnel system will carry eight to 16 people and travel at speeds of 125 to 150 mph, the company said on its website. The Boring Company said it will fund the project in its entirety, and that it plans to collect ticket and advertising revenue. No information has been released about estimated construction costs or when construction might begin. “Neither our mayor, nor Elon Musk, is a patient man, so we expect to start negotiations immediately and construction as soon as possible, and we’ll be putting this project online in the near future,” Deputy Mayor Robert Rivkin said Thursday. Here’s Elon Musk Ragging On The Media Again, Which His Company Admits It Needs
Elon Musk, of Tesla fame, is back on his bullshit about the media today. The latest idea—from the man who just recently invented the subway—is this: a website where the public can rate the credibility of journalists and publications. Cool. Musk has been on a tear over the last 48 hours, lambasting “big media” as clickbait whores who’d do anything to paint Tesla in a negative light. Which isn’t unusual, but whatever. Roll tape: As we’ve said before, his understanding of journalism is on par with Donald Trump, and he’s pouting about critical reporting of his currently-struggling company, despite being very aware of how crucial media coverage is to his company. How crucial? From the company’s latest annual report: Jeez, a curious reader might consider, maybe he enjoys baiting reporters like this? Anyone with access to a computer could find reams of stories showering Tesla with praise, from the very publications he lambasts, too. … [Read more...] about Here’s Elon Musk Ragging On The Media Again, Which His Company Admits It Needs
Musk has second thoughts on aggressive automation for Tesla Model 3
In early 2017, Elon Musk told stock analysts that Tesla Inc.’s goal “is to be the best manufacturer on Earth.” He’d get there by inventing a factory so dense with robots and devoid of human beings it would resemble an “alien dreadnaught” video game warship.Speed, he’s said, “is the ultimate weapon when it comes to innovation or production.”Instead, Tesla this week was forced to bring the Fremont, Calif., production line of its crucial mass-market Model 3 electric sedan to a complete halt, according to the company. It is at least the second shutdown in the last two months. And in an internal email, Musk said Tesla will add workers and go to round-the-clock production to meet goals.Officially, the company is describing the weeklong shutdown of the Model 3 line as “planned downtime” to “improve automation and systemically address bottlenecks in order to increase production rates.”Tesla executives hatched the … [Read more...] about Musk has second thoughts on aggressive automation for Tesla Model 3
